all of my rings are white gold/platinum, but i am wanting to get me some yellow gold, ASAP! i think it is because of seeing all the beautiful, buttery gold jewelry here! what really started it, was the ring i saw on here that is yellow gold (engagement and wedding band)with a blue diamond solitaire. it is soooo beautiful, sleek, and rich yellow gold! YUM YUM! i think i am going to search for the pix, so i can wallow in it''s perfection!

Phew! Although weird couples do happen like Marilyn Manson and Rachel Evan Wood.

As long as they''re happy. Now back to the subject at hand!

I have had this diamond in a white gold pave setting and now in this yellow gold tension setting. I never thought I would prefer the yellow, but I couldn''t be happier. The white gold yellowed so fast on me it just wasn''t worth it. I almost never take my ring off, and it maintains the luster and shine. Go for the (yellow) gold!

Poor tacky me!

First of all I just want to say to kboggs315, I love your set. I think that the yellow gold very much enhances your blue diamond. Love it!!!!!!!!! I love tension settings. May I ask what size is your diamond?? And with that here is my yellowy gold set.

Thank MishB!

Buffy01.... my diamond is only a .63 ! One of the reasons I love this setting..its made for my diamond and makes it look huge!!! Well, it looks huge to me...

Yep... in my mind... yellow is the way to go...its just so warm!

kboggs315 - I absolutely agree with the size of your diamond. I love tension settings, I wanted to do it to my 1.52 but was told that it would sit way up high, so I have decided to do it to my 1/4ct solitaire next year when things loosen up a little with the economy and all. I am soo happy that you posted your set, I look at it quite a bit.

kboggs315- Your diamond looks absolutely stunning in your new y/g setting! hubba, hubba

Poor tacky me!

It isn''t! Yellow gold is gorgeous. Many metals are popular these days--and mixing metals can be beautiful. It''s all in the design. I love yellow gold!

I have to agree...again. lol. Yellow gold is rich, lustrous, and beautiful. And think about it... it doesn''t need to be replated! And "everyone" has white gold or platinum! lol. I like being different!

Yellow gold tacky? I think not...I prefer to call it... the real gold.

I''m a HUGE fan of brushed finish yellow gold jewelry. Most women seem to prefer white metal thesedays, but are there other women on PS that love modern & sleek looking yellow gold e-rings? I would love to see pictures if possible

Here''s a ring from Green Lake Jewelry Works in Seattle.

Thanks!

I hate the first one...it''s lumpy and not at all IMO sleek. The second one (bezel) I love. I have lots of yellow gold...all very classic looking. I''m not big into trends for jewelry.

I quite agree! I''ve never thought of yellow gold as being tacky, especially 18K yellow gold, not that there''s anything at all wrong with 14K. My wedding set is good old 14K yellow gold and I still love it.

I agree with kboggs. Let''s face it, gold is actually naturally yellow. An awful lot has to be done to it to blanch out it''s natural color and make it white.

I have always been a fan of yellow gold myself! I think it just fits better with my skin tone, and I think it really helps bring out the blue in my sapphires! I love seeing everyone elses yummy yellows too!!

I love YG!! You''re right though, it''s hard to find these days in styles that aren''t to ''80s and ''tacky'', however, I found several modern bezels in YG at http://www.crossjewelers.com/style/active/default.htm that I think are beautiful! I also love this Sholdt!

gorgeous! this would definitely be an everyday ring for me. All my jewelry is white gold (earrings, rings, bracelets, necklaces, anklet, and toe ring) but I want to start a yellow gold set because my skin complements both metals... and I feel like yellow looks better in the summertime.

This isn''t a diamond but a ruby surrounded by bagets in a gold setting.

Edl posted this one, it''s by my favorite designer and I think it''s dreamy!

I love yellow gold, too. Here are a few Whitney Boin pieces that I''ve had my eye on. Yummy!

Hmmmm . . . I''m not sure if my set qualifies as "tacky" or not, but here it is anyway:

And here''s a shot of my e-ring by itself to show the detail:

Both rings are 18k, and the wedding band has engraving on the sides and milgraining on the edges to match the e-ring. All of the little round brilliants on both rings are bead set/pave/whatever ya wanna call it. The center stone is a 0.75 carat radiant, and the two large sidestones are princess cuts.

Irish, your ring could never qualify as tacky, and I''ve always loved your band too.
