Oh man, finding settings that will sit flush is a PAIN. Truly. It limits you a lot.

How do you remedy that? What kind of wedding band would work with it?

Thanks!

Hmm well you could either get a curved band that wouldn't sit perfectly flush, get a fully custom band, or only consider settings that would allow the band to sit flush.

I chose the latter after taking a couple goes at custom work. It seemed like my vision just wasn't executable, so I scrapped my idea for sidestones and got a solitaire from BGD instead. My solitaire allows a band to sit flush. There are a few halo designs out there that will allow a flush band, but the ones I have seen are all the more "modern" type, like this: http://www.jamesallen.com/Pave-Rings/Pave-Rings/17155Y/Engagement-Rings.jpg

ETA: when you say "non-diamond halos" do you just mean bezel set?

This is the James Allen setting I am getting. Love it so much!!

I bet jBEG could modify the ring to be flush set.

I don't mind the little doughnut gap, but I am not sure why anyone designs an e-ring like the first one since that creates such a huge gap. And no offense to anyone, but I just am not fond of curved wedding bands.

That setting could easily be made like MANY other halos that allow a band to sit closer to the e-ring. Vatche Grace is another good one:

If I am not mistaken, this style actually doesn't allow for a flush band.

Hey guys,

Thanks for your input! When I say non-diamond halos, I mean more than just bezel set, but like a metal halo. It could be prong or bezel set. I like how the Lynda makes the stone look bigger and has an antique look with the milgrain and engraving. Diamond halos aren't really my style and aren't in budget either!

I wonder how JbEG could make the ring sit flush... I've never thought about custom ordering and I don't know a thing about ring design. :errrr:

Any thoughts??

P.S. I am not fond of curved wedding bands either. I suppose a small gap would be ok...

With that setting, it's not going to be a tiny gap like with a little doughnut, it's going to be a significant gap because the band will touch the base of the prongs/basket and will probably sit right up against the little design on the side, thus obscuring it. I wouldn't choose this ring without significant custom changes, because it seems like you really want the band to be flush, and you'd never be entirely happy if it isn't, which is fine!

This is the kind of setting where a band will sit flush: http://www.whiteflash.com/engagement-rings/solitaire/guinevere-solitaire-engagement-ring-180.htm You could ask WF if they can engrave and add milgrain to the halo section instead of adding ACA melee. Show them the example, I bet the price would be comparable for slight custom work since you'd be skipping the diamonds.
