Hi all,

Went to go get my ring resized and the jeweler mentioned that it was a bit unusual that there was no stamp on the ring saying what the carat of gold was. This worries me slightly - I think my fiance purchased the ring online from a jeweler in the states. Does anyone have insight into why there would be no stamp?

The jeweler resized it, looked at the diamonds and everything seemed fine. However, since then I accidently dropped my ring on the tile floor (eep!) and one the tiny halo diamonds popped out and was lost. Now I am worried about the quality of the ring!!

I''ll try to make some more pics today if it finally gets sunny outside!

Thanks!

Any ring could have a pave stone pop out if it was dropped and hit the bead or prong just right. Do you have the receipt? You should contact the jeweler. You at least should know the content.

Maybe if you post this in RockyTalky some of our resident jewelers will see this. I thought legally the metal had to be stamped but I am FAR from an expert. Even cheap jewelry I have has a stamp.

It should have a stamp on it! It would be absolutely unacceptable for a jeweler to fail to identify the metal. I believe it is a legal reguirement, although I don''t know the specifics.

Your ring is beautiful by the way -- hopefully your jeweler will fix up the loose stone and mark the inside of the band with the appropriate metal.

My husband''s stamp was polished out prior to engraving..

I have heard of this happening. The ring may have also been sized where the stamp previously was.

I have had the designer''s hallmark (Chrisopher Designs) buffed out during sizing - a bummer, but I''m not selling it or anything, so it doesn''t really matter to me.

Your ring is beautiful. Can you call the store you bought it from and ask them why there is no stamp?
