No More Baguettes?

A local mall jewelry store salesperson told me that stores would soon no longer carry rings that contain baguette diamonds. They said that baguettes are getting too hard to cut and would only be available through special order. Has anyone else heard this? My E-ring has lots of baguettes and I was considering getting a baguette wedding band to go with it (lol, I have yet to receive the E-ring though. I helped him pick out the ring and he just got it put together a couple of days ago, but he hasn''t proposed yet. I''m dying from waiting!). I don''t plan on buying from a mall jewelry store (my E-ring certainly didn''t come from one. I just don''t trust them as much), but I''m having a hard time finding one as it is. Is it going to go extinct before I get married? Or are they pulling my leg?

I have never heard this--I just bought a large RHR made largely of substantial baguettes... Honestly, this statement sounds odd to me!

I thought it sounded odd as well. I''m having a tought time deciding what kind of wedding band to choose. Once I actually receive my E-ring I''ll post it and get some opinions. I was just wondering if anyone else had heard the same thing I did. I thought it was a bunch of bull honestly, but the fact that I''m having a hard time finding baguette bands is making me think a little differently.

I highly doubt this...A very traditional ring is a round center stone with tapered baguettes on each side.

As noted here and above, traditional & timeless.

But, if the store is into buying the more trendy - like pave - then they may choose to not carry many baguette rings anymore. I''d look elsewhere. I have no doubt they are still available.

I also have to strongly doubt that the salesperson''s information was correct. I just bought a wedding set with baguettes on the e-ring and w-band. There was no mention that baguettes would be discontinued....

My guess would be that more than likely F&I is on the right track. The store has made a decision to go with more modern/trendy designs and is choosing not to carry bag style rings any more.

Try shopping around at other stores or calls some PS Vendors with your question. If anyone would know for sure, it would be diamond Vendors.

Baguettes are being cut today just as they have been for many years. There''s no issue with the difficulty of cutting them, as was mentioned
Supply of diamonds- all diamonds- is short right now- baguettes included- but they are still being cut

I believe it''s nonsense as well. I mean, come on, it doesn''t seem like baguettes would be any more difficult to cut than the other fancy diamond shapes.

Seems to me that it was just that paticular store that made a decision not to carry baguettes unless by special order. Baguettes are here to stay, trust me.

This particular store was irritating me to begin with. I went in just to look at 0.75 or 0.85 diamond because my BF was looking at purchasing that size, since he couldn''t quite afford a 1 carat. He told me to go to a jewelry store and see what those sizes look like, and to try them on to see how they look on my hands. Anyway, long story short, this particular store was being way too nosey with me and was arguing with me on a lot of things dealing with diamonds and certifications and whatnot. I mean, everything. Like we didn''t do any research or anything, and we were stupid or something. There were things that they were telling me that I KNEW was not true. And there was other stuff that just didn''t sound right. I wanted to just leave and tell them to leave me alone. I''m more than likely never going back.

Run as fast as you can. What a bunch of nonsense!Just chalk it up to a learning experience and now you know how to trust yourself and not the opinion of a sales associate who started working in the store last week

Baguettes are timeless and will be in rings for many years to come.
