Hello all,

I have been lurking here on Pricescope for about 2 months now and from what I can tell this is a really excellent website. Hopefully you can provide some insight for a diamond rookie looking to become engaged within the next six months. As for a little background, my name is Kyle and I just turned 21. I have been with my girlfriend for 4 years now and the time has come to move on to the next step in our relationship. I have done a lot of diamond and setting research and feel like I am moderately knowledgeable so far. We have talked a lot about rings and I am confident that I know what she likes, however I need some help to make it all happen. Here is what I''m up against:

She is only interested in Round and Princess cut diamonds. The ring has to be white gold or possibly platinum. She was mostly interested in 3 stone rings until her sister became engaged last year and received your typical three stone princess cut ring, so now that idea is out of the window. The ring has to be unique in some way and my budget is going to be somewhat flexible around $5000-$7000.

To give you an idea of something that I consider unique I am going to reference a ring that I discovered here in the "Show Me the Ring" section which is owned by Pricescope member "Emmsna" and can be seen at this link: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-engagement-ring.115496/

I really like this ring but I''m hoping to be able to have a center stone that is around 1 ct (possibly a little bit larger?). "Emmsna''s" ring was custom made as you can see and I have no idea how I would go about finding a custom jeweler to replicate the design or anything like that so I need direction in that area.

Otherwise I am completely open to all suggestions on settings (or anything else for that matter) so please help me in my quest for a ring that will blow her away.

Thanks,

Kyle

Hi Kyle and welcome!

That is a very unique ring you posted, but are you sure your GF would want a similar design? It is lovely but the design might not be for everyone, if she has expressed that she loves this type of design then fine but otherwise I would think maybe a more traditional ring with a unique twist might be better? Just my thoughts here!

Many of the trusted vendors can do custom, so it would be a case of approaching them, explaining what you want and seeing what can be done. I will list some vendors you can try, also all sell beautifully cut diamonds which could suit you.

Wow I also just came across this ring which I am really impressed by. I just saw it in the picture gallery on the side ads right on the forum.

It is a three stone contour ring by Diana Vincent and here is the link.

Just want to give the best idea of what I am interested in. Thanks

This is also a lovely design and Pearlmans also sell diamonds, is the setting within your budget? It does mention the ring is available in white gold which might be a bit cheaper.

Lorelei,
Thank you for the quick reply. I know that the ring I posted is very unique but I can''t help admire how nice it came out. I know that my girlfriend would love the design, however I definitely agree with your suggestion to look at more traditional designs with unique twists and that is what I''m searching for.

As for the second ring, that is really great that it is offered in white gold because I''m sure it would become more affordable (I hadn''t noticed before thanks!). It is a little pricey but I am willing to expand my budget to get exactly what I am looking for. Am I correct in assuming that this ring comes with the side stones included and then I must select a center stone to be purchased seperately?

Thanks,

-Kyle

Most welcome Kyle!

Thats the way I read it, that the side stones are included and the setting is also available in white gold, drop them an email or call to check and get the pricing, WG would definitely make it more affordable. So yes you would need to select a centre diamond separately, we could probably help you with that.

Description
Item: 09DV1 - From Diana Vincent's Contour™ Collection, a "Diamonds Today Award" winning platinum ring for a 1.00-1.50 carat round center stone. Set with two round brilliant side diamonds with a total of 0.52twt. High polished finish. Shown in platinum but also available in 18K white or yellow gold.

I will definitely send them an email and start looking into center stone details so I may get some help.

Is anyone familiar with this website which has some very unique and affordable settings: http://www.sunjewelry.com/

I am wondering if they are legitimate or if anyone has dealt with them because I like a lot of stuff on their website. They also have a showroom in Hershey PA which is close enough to me in MD that I could make a visit if necessary. Any thoughts?

I have heard of them but don't know much about them. Can you get to Long Island? If so, you could make an appointment with Jon at www.goodoldgold.com and see what he can come up with?

www.jamesallen.com are also in MD.

Okay so here is another link to the Diana Vincent ring that I found today:

http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.dianavincent.com/uploaded_images/633634739836624369_DV_R111-PT-LT-1ct-D_LRG.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.dianavincent.com/prod_template.aspx?sb=category&id=18&name=Engagement%20Rings&usg=__fEyXx8Pw8QxQiJaNX9bTZD1CgaY=&h=435&w=400&sz=20&hl=en&start=4&um=1&tbnid=5NPZjNgA32A7PM:&tbnh=126&tbnw=116&prev=/images?q=contour+engagement+ring&ndsp=18&hl=en&safe=active&sa=N&um=1

I really like the contour type setting around the center stone, and I have never seen a 3 stone ring like this.

I need help finding similiar 3 stone rings out there with this kind of wrap around, contour setting (or whatever the official name is?).
A ring like this one, and possibly with some small stones added around the sides of the band would be amazing.

If anyone can point me in the right direction I would very much appreciate it.

kp13 - here is a ring like the very first one you posted. It is by knoxville jewerlers which is considered
reputable.

Here is a ring like the 3rd one you posted (I think)...its $790
http://www.knoxjewelers.biz/index.htm?crn=200&rn=1106&action=show_detail

This is sort of a fancy 3 stone with RB center and princess sidestones:

http://www.knoxjewelers.biz/index.htm?crn=200&rn=1438&action=show_detail

This sort of has a swirly feel (but not one of my favorites :-)

Swirly blingy ring

Anyway, you get the point...look at this site and see if they have anything you
like.

Hey TyTy I actually posted the wrong Diana Vincent link above but if you look on the site there is a 3 stone ring with a swirly type of setting around the center stone. I cant seem to link it correctly though.

Thank you so much for your suggestions because they are excellent. I really like the first ring that you posted and there are some nice designs on the knox website. Thanks again!

tyty did GOOD!!!
