I just received the beautiful ring I picked out for my wife. I took it to a couple of places and they all agreed that I got a great deal. The only concern was that the GIA numbers were not on the stone and they mentioned that GIA usually puts the numbers on the stone. Should I be concerned? What are my options? Any help would be apprecaited.

who mentioned that gia numbers are put on the stone? the vendor?
not all diamonds are inscribed. the lack of an inscription does not in itself mean anything.

I think most diamonds are not inscribed. I know mine isn't. Nothing to worry about. Can you post a pic of your ring, we'd love to see it!!!

GIA Dossier reports come with inscription, the more expensive full reports come with inscription only if requested. (Go figure).

This sounds like a typical situation of someone who was selling ladies shoes a few weeks ago telling you something he thought he learned last night as gospel. (Oops, my Christmas cheer appears to be frayed...)

The full reports have a diagram that can be used to match the stone with the report while the Dossier reports do not so the inscription is used to make sure the cert and the stone are matching. Personally I think it a great practice to inscribe the stones.
