Nightmares about diamonds/ jewelry?

I remember a thread about this before, but I can’t find it. so I’m starting a new one

Do you ever have nightmares about ugly jewelry? Every few months I have nightmares about being proposed to with an ugly piece of frozen spit, or losing the
Centerstone of my e-ring and getting a replacement that is just inferior...?

Last night I had a nightmare about commissioning a ring setting for a new 3 ct round, and what I received was a setting the size of a small Motorola flip phone that housed the centerstone, and couldn’t be seen with the lid closed. Picture a Giant oyster shell type contraption that opens to reveal the stone....that was the “avant-garde” interpretation of a crazy jeweler!

Do you have any crazy dreams/ nightmares about your jewelry?

I have nightmares of losing my jewelry all the time lol. Or of someone swapping out my center stone or something. But never had a nightmare of receiving ugly jewelry! If I did receive ugly jewelry as a gift in real life I’d probably just play around with it and remake it to something good

I dreamed that I feel asleep with my clothes and some rings on (sleeping within my dream). When I woke up (still in my dream), I went to the mirror, and some fibers snagged on some prongs of my Stuller blue sapphire ring from Inken. I tugged on the fibers, and the melee diamonds popped out and...

I have never had a jewelry nightmare that I can recall. I occasionally still have nightmares about school exams and not being prepared. LOL. Thankfully it's been a long while since I had that nightmare.

I have had reoccurring dreams about sapphire rings.
Usually the scenario is that I'm at some kind of sale and there are trays and trays of sapphire rings, and I am looking through them.
Then the seller is suddenly gone, and I can't find the rings anymore, and I'm searching and searching.....

I used to have nightmares about jewelry all the time until I accidentally ran my diamond through the garbage disposal. I think that incident beat anything my brain can muster so it gave up!

Thank you @missy! That is the thread I was thinking about. I had another nightmare once about a Giant 5ct+ diamond that cracked right down the middle, the 2 halves being held precariously by 2 prongs each. Since that dream, I have sworn to always have at least 6 prongs on a large rock!

@stracci2000 I will have to check out your color gem collection, it must be quite amazing considering you had such a nightmare about picking out the perfect sapphire!

I had a nightmare once about my husband proposing with a giant ice cube sized canary diamond.....yellow is the worst color against my yellowish skin tone, I don’t own one piece of yellow clothing....but I accepted the ring graciously and wore it for years! What a nightmare!

That is a very unpleasant nightmare indeed! And 6 (or 8 prongs) are pretty sweet on a large rock. You cannot go wrong.

Occasionally I have different versions of the same dream where someone says something like, “What an unusual ring.” Then I look down and I’m missing the center stone of my engagement ring or several stones from my five stone.

I always check to make sure all my stones are secure the next morning.

I don't recall the details, but I had a dream that my DH proposed with a ring I didn't like! Was very happy to wake up and realize I still had my beauty

The ring was mutilated!
All but a few pave diamonds were crushed.

However, the main diamond got jammed between the chamber of blades and a side wall (the blades HAD to fling it there) and was protected. Not a scratch nor chip.

Not nightmare as such, however, I will not use claws/prongs to set the main stone in new pieces of jewellery that I commission ever since I lost the centre stone of a ring that my mum lent to me back in the mid 90s.

It was a small piece of Imperial Jade, very transparent and vivid in colour.

One of the claws got caught in something and was bent out of shape, and the stone fell off, during one drunken work social event!

When I woke up in the middle of the night at about 03:00 in the morning and realised what had happened, I went downstairs to the function room to look for it, even inspected the content of the vacuum cleaner used to clean up after the event, and could not find it anywhere.

My mum was philosophical about it, citing something about the jade had probably lost/sacrificed itself to advert something bad that was coming my way, blah blah blah.

I liked that ring, and sold the setting afterwards to pay towards another project.
