Hi, gang. I was hoping to pick your brains on where to find good quality Mexican fire opal cabochons at a decent price? And I was also hoping you could post some pictures of some good examples of what a solid Mexican fire opal cab SHOULD look like?

3.9ct Mexican fire opal ring

I am loving this fire opal ring lately. Center mexican fire opal is 3.9ct, set in platinum. It's a really heavy ring, but pretty comfy. Definitely the best fire opal cabochon I have seen. Fire opal is very stable and should value more IMHO. It's not easy to find good cabochon with such color...

They don’t all have play of color - some are just a straight - but amazing - orange to red.

It's hard to find a combination of good colorplay+strong saturation+pleasing cab shape
This is a Japanese vendor I came across a few weeks ago, I have no experience with them but I enjoy their site and they have sold some nice fire opals, eg:
