Hello Pricescope members, I''ve been mostly a lurker until now but I figure it''s time to introduce myself since I finally have my own ring that I can talk about. My fiance and I got engaged in Paris about two weeks ago. He knew I wanted a round-brilliant for my e-ring so that''s what I got. He had the diamond put on a default setting for the proposal because he knew I was picky and he wanted me to pick out my own setting.

Here are the specs for the diamond: 1.29 GIA round brilliant, G, VS1, triple Excellent for cut, polish, and symmetry. I pretty much understand the 4C''s for diamonds but I''m still a diamond newbie and have no idea what these numbers mean as a whole.
Total Depth: 59.8%
Table Size: 59%
Crown Angle: 34.5
Pavillion Angle: 40.8
Culet: None

Are these numbers ok in addition to the 4C''s? How much do you think this diamond is worth? I know how much he paid, I just want to know if he got a good deal.

Honestly, at first I was a little disappointed. I thought that I wanted a slightly bigger stone and would have sacrificed some of the clarity and color but now I''m not too sure... I think it''s growing on me. Now, I am just patiently waiting for my setting to arrive (Tacori 2628 in plat.) and I just can''t wait! I''ll attach some pictures of my ring in the default setting and also pics of the new setting for the stone. Anyway, hello again and I''m looking forward to finally becoming an active Pricescope member!

last one, why does my diamond look so cloudy in all of these, is the flash? it''s really sparkly in real life, i promise!

Your diamond is beautiful! It probably has a good spread (diameter) since the depth is low! The Tacori setting is beautiful and will make your stone appear larger. G VS1 is very nice, too!

Congratulations on your engagement!

One more thought, are they sending your stone to Tacori for them to set it? That is the way it should be done.

WOW!!! Fabulous taste. That setting is TO DIE FOR!!! I can''t wait to see pictures. And congratulations on your engagement!!! I suppose that last statement should have gone first lol -- only on PS do we get excited about settings and then think of what really matters heheheh. I think you''ll be very happy with your stone, esp. in that wonderful setting -- it will be extremely sparkly (being so well cut), and should be an absolute JOY!

Congrats!

Welcome to PS Lotsofsparkle! What a beautiful ring! I love both settings actually, your temporary one and the one from Tacori.

Wow! your stone is gorgeous, and that Tacori setting is just lovely!

diamondseeker- I did not send Tacori my diamond, it''s on my finger as I type this. My jeweler said they''ll call me when the setting arrives because I wanted to watch them set it. They never even mentioned that I should send it to Tacori to have them set it and I didn''t think much of it as I still get the lifetime tacori warranty if something happens. What are the benefits to have Tacori set the stone as opposed to my jeweler (who is a well-known and respected, authorized tacori dealer in my area)?

Your stone is beautiful and will be even more spectacular in that amazing setting, so don''t worry about the size. It''s going to look great on your hand. And, yes, it probably is the flash that''s making the stone look cloudy. A shot in diffused but not direct sunlight might do it more justice, but it looks fantastic and super bright.

Thanks everyone for the kind words, this wait is going to be harder than I thought! 2-4wks is the timeframe for the setting to be ready.

Lane- I promise I''ll post tons of pictures of the setting as soon as I get it, and good luck w/ your tacori search, hope you find your perfect setting soon!

Are you sure it keeps the Tacori warranty if the jeweler sets the stone? For most designers, they require the stone to be sent to them to set for them to honor the warranty. And we have seen some bad setting jobs by local jewelers, too. Maybe Tacori is selling so many rings that they now allow the jewelers to set the stones. But I might call Tacori to confirm that.

ok, I couldn''t stand the cloudyness so I took some new pictures without flash, sorry for the picture overload...

Beautiful diamond and setting. It will look amazing when it is finally set. I can''t wait to see the final pictures. Please do repost.

Very beautiful ring. I am wanting a round diamond now. :-)
I like your watch also!

is this an ideal cut diamond?

so you would rather have gotten a smaller diamond with better specs? the 1.29ct looks a bit smaller on your hands - whats your ring size...

The diamond is a GIA ex/ex/ex cut.

"I wanted a slightly bigger stone and would have sacrificed some of the clarity and color" so no, I would not have gone for a smaller diamond with better specs.

My ring size is a 4.

Diamondseeker- I took your advice and emailed Tacori to make sure my warranty is still valid if I have my jeweler set my stone and it definitely is. Here is the response I got from Tacori:

***Regarding “who” sets your stone, it is not mandatory to send your center diamond to us (Tacori) for setting. We understand the real and emotional value of your center stone, and it is completely up to you who handles, and sets, your center stone. And as long as you have your stone set by an authorized Tacori retailer, your ring will continue to be covered under the Tacori warranty.***

So there is the answer to that question. I''m glad you brought that up though because now I have complete peace of mind that my warranty will still be valid.

Oh my gosh another Tacori in waiting! Congratulations and I can''t wait to see your new setting. Gorgeous ring btw!!!

Congrats lotsofsparkle! It''s beautiful!
Cannot wait to see it in the new setting!

tacori just called my jeweler. they say it''s going to take the full 4 weeks to make my ring because they''re making it from scratch. 4 weeks, 4 WEEKS!

congratulations!
4 weeks is a looonnng time! but it will be worth it, cant wait to see the finished product!
