Hi
35.gif

Not enough information is provided to know. You''ll need to see actual, not demo images. You should expect to see an idealscope. See if you can get a sarin. It appears this stone is not inhouse, so you should have them call in it and let you know what their impression is. The price seems in line with stones that size and quality.

Finally, for a stone of this size and cost, if this stone passes your expectations, I would insist on having a private appraisal. You can get a list of appraisors from the Resources section above.

Good luck..........

Without crown and pavilion angles, all you really know about that stone is that it received a "very good" on the GIA cut analysis.

How about this stone? HERE

This stone has a newer GIA grading, so the numbers are on the cert:

Depth: 61.2
Table: 56%
Crown angle: 35
Pavillion angle: 40.2
Girdle: Medium to slightly thick
No culet.

Hope that helps!

I wish you well,

Bridget

In AGS-grading, this stone could at best be an AGS-2, based upon the average angles.

However, the only ''Good'' symmetry could be a sign of big variances within the same angle, and this will probably lead to lower light performance, definitely with such a low pavilion angle.

A full Sarin-measurement could help in verifying these speculations, and an Idealscope or ASET-scope could give more info on the true light performance.

Live long,

Hey everyone, thanks for the reply. Now I''m really confused. I thought that with these numbers, this stone would show good. The HCA on it shows excellent. The numbers that Bridget S. gave are correct.

Depth: 61.2
Table: 56%
Crown angle: 35
Pavillion angle: 40.2
Girdle: Medium to slightly thick
No culet.

What''s going on here? Did I just unlearn myself?

Hey, InterrimRent, I thought you had gone and disappeared on us.

Glad to see you're back.

1.8-2.1, 16K budget, right? I'd probably shoot for a 1.9 I SI1.

You're going to want VG or EX on Polish and Symmetry.

You have a pav. angle of 40.2, which is the problem that Paul is referring to. Nothing below 40.5, I think, for AGS-0. GIA rounds the crown angle to 35, so we have no idea what it really is.

Julie,

I am still lurking around and talking to some PS vendors right now. I am a bit confused, it looks like under HCA, this diamond score well with those numbers. Also you suggested that I go for 1.8 or so SI1. Are all the 2.0 carat rocks out on the PS site not good, or trolls. I''ve noticed that the inhouse stones have all that info, but they want a premium for most in house stones. Whats the deal with the HCA reporting this as .9 score. Please help

Oh, I just didn't find any in-house 2 cts in your budget. I found a 1.8 I VS2 for maybe 14.5K (it's on your old thread.) Well, I did find that one J...

but you'll definitely have to see that for yourself; I'm not going to tell you it's WHITE, but sacrifices have to be made somewhere.

There is an HCA...disclaimer: http://diamonds.pricescope.com/ideal.asp You'll see that the stone you picked falls under the earrings and pendant stones.

Since you're looking for something specific, you might want to contact one of the PS vendors (GOG, JA, Wink Jones, Mark T) to see if they can get something from their suppliers that meet your specs. If you don't like a stone they call in, it costs a small fee. (So of course, they'll try to find you something good, becaues it makes no one happy to have a stone called in and then rejected.) Yes, there's a premium to in-house stones, but they've been checked over by the experts to be excellent stones.
