Yesterday was a very exciting day for me. My partner and I have been discussing marriage for a couple of months. He, wisely, is not brave enough to choose an engagement ring for me and has decided we should shop for one together. We were walking past a jeweller and, as usual, we stopped and had a look in the window. I spotted one I liked and Damien said "Lets go try it on". So, for the first time in my life, I tried on an engagment ring!

It was very pretty but I think the halo (ring term??) was a little chunky. Centre stone was a 1ct H SI2. Price was $17000 AUD, reduced to $12000. Damien, who knows alot more about diamonds than me, was not happy with the stone or the setting. Like me, he thought the halo was a little chunky and detracted from the centre stone. He also thought it wasn't set high enough to let adequate light in. But still, I didn't care because I got to try on an engagement ring!!!

My dream ring is the Tiffany Legacy - simply stunning! We haven't been to Tiffany yet, but will get there eventually. I only hope it suits me... I have little hands and my finger is around a 4 1/2.

Just a bit about me... I'm 34 and live in Sydney, Australia. I look forward to posting more on the forum in the future!

Meanwhile, this is the ring I tried on.

**Edited as in my excitement I seem to have lost the ability to spell!

Welcome. You are going to love it here! I wear a 4.5 e-ring as well. The beauty of small hands is the diamond looks even bigger. It is a very desirable trait. Good luck ring shopping. Just have fun.

Thank you all for your warm welcome!

I have been browsing the site and WOW! What alot of information to take in! I''ve also been checking out the photos and you all have some beautiful jewellery.

I''m planning on taking my time and enjoying the whole experience. Though I love the Legacy, I''m open to trying on lots of different styles. Solitaires interest me as do three stone settings. I guess I''m a classic girl at heart! I will certainly keep you up to date with my progress.

I think some diamond research is in order. I''d really like to compare the different colours and inclusions side by side to get a clearer picture of what I''d be happy with.

Welcome to Pricescope! The photo of the ring you showed is beautiful! I was actually thinking about a halo, until I fell in love with a different diamond. There are so many beautiful rings out there; it''s hard to decide on only one!!! Keep us posted on what ring you choose!!!

Welcome to PS, good to have you!

Try on lots of rings, take time to discover what you really love and then buy. Happy hunting!
