Greetings from a newbie seeking advice on a recently purchased stone and what to do with it in honor of my 25th anniversary next year! I have enjoyed the reams of advice and eye candy on PS and am proud to say that (apparently intuitively, maybe one learns something in 25+ years) I knew already the PS dictum to delay my upgrade project until I had saved the $ for it myself and then could explain to DH my interest in upgrading from a position of financial strength.
Then a very sweet, lovely and knowledgeable PSer I knew recommended both a stone she had passed on for credible reasons, and this forum to learn and ask advice from.
I found this stone much sooner than I expected, before I was sure what I wanted, other than something in an OMC or OEC much larger than my current ering stone (which is 0.53 ct I/vs2 round brilliant). I really hope I wasn’t too hasty. Please tell me what you think.
The specs of my new distraction:
GIA 1.65 ct J/vs2 antique cushion cut (GIA called it old mine brilliant)
7.31 x 6.82 x 4.77 mm; 1.07 ratio
Fluor none
culet very large
girdle very thin to slightly thick
depth 69.9%
table 46%
Polish good
Symmetry fair
The girdle is chipped in 2 places. I have an unpracticed eye, nevertheless I would call it eye clean, would you? At my friend’s urging I arranged to “meet” the stone in favorable lighting; I received it in a crappy temp yellow gold setting, but I gotta undermine your objectiveness by saying it was love at first sight.
Trying to attach some photos now (I have tons, many closeups, but have to make sure this works).
Would anyone be able to comment on the facet pattern of this stone (in the future, when I offer you closeups)?
Thanks in advance for your expertise!
