Hello all, and great board! Well, I'm summoning your expertise in my ring search. Before I get into specifics, I'd like to run something by you regarding the Ideal Scope. Can you offer your comments on the following images and my notations? Please reference the colors of you could in your comments (e.g., " the areas you point out in orange are insignificant"). If there is something you want me to highlight more, let me know and I'll create a new image. This would be a great learning opportunity for me and other newbie lurkers out here. This site provides a great service!

By the way, the image was larger and easier to read/view, but I had to shrink it to meet the attachment max size.

Much obliged!

I would like to know myself, so bump for the newbie!

Thanks Gary And DillPickle, exactly the info I was looking for!

Stansbury,

Despite my own propensity to throw links around liberally, I also like to avoid delving into detail when it''s not necessary.

Is there anything you''ve abstracted from this that helps you answer your questions you''d like to share with me, or us?

I was uncertain which image was more characteristic of the better diamond. I''d seen several posts where folks gave high reviews to diamonds with leaking at the outer facets and those without leaking at the outer facets, and I couldn''t figure out why the disrepancy in views. I thought that obviously one group had to be wrong beacuse the images are so different that only one could really live up the the ONE perfect standard . I didn''t know that that I''d inadvertently backed into the topic of ACA Classic versus New Line, and that there isn''t necessarily ONE standard, but TWO (as far as WF goes at least). I had no idea that they are different variations on the cut.

The one thing I am still unclear on is the coloring. Several of the IS images are a much lighter/brighter red than others. I realize that pink is not good, but what about light red versus dark red? Is this in fact the diamond or due to the photography/lighting, or both? For example, the two diamonds below are of the same color (G) and have similar amounts of leaking. But one is darker than the other. Which is better?

it is just photography differences.

You''re picking nano-nits and have fallen into the abyss of uber-interpretation!

You''re way past "GO" and have no need to collect your $200...you have ventured into the "dark" side and can never return to reality

Excellent review Gary.

Stan when you see pink that = about 50% pink (ie 1.2 the brightness) there is about 20% leakage and 80% light return happening.
So calm down.
The tool picks up more than you ever need to worry about.
