Hi everyone, Im new here and new to the diamond search. My boyfriend has given me my budget and I have started to look online as Im finding prices in Bahrain to be a little silly :-S
Anyway I have been looking at this bluenile website and I am considering this:

http://www.bluenile.com/design.jsp?filter_id=1&ring_size=5

Can anyone tell me of the pros/cons and any other suggestions.
All your help is greatly appreciated...also mods I am so sorry if i posted this in wrong area please point me in right direction if so, I had a look around and couldnt find a more relevant section.
Again, thank you all and nice to meet you
:-)

Hi Seona,

BN has a great selection, and competitive prices. They have a very good, 30 day return policy, no questions asked.

The downside is, they don't offer the kind of info we like to use in assessing stones sight unseen, such as Idealscope/ASET photos, etc. Also, there have been several occasions where posters were told a stone was eyeclean when in fact it wasn't. So they had to ship back, which is dissapointing, a hassle, and costs. Also, no upgrade policy.

Some of their stones are on site, many are not. They are a "drop shipper" with some stones on hand.

So, it's possible to get a nice stone, but it depends on a lot of variables. There are other very reputable online vendors that do give you all the info you need, and with you being so far away, I would consider those as well. If you'd like us to help you find something, we'd be happy to.

Welcome Seona!

Ditto my friend Miss Ellen above, she has you covered and if you want some suggestions for diamonds which might suit you then you only have to ask and we can see what is out there which might suit you if you give us an idea of budget and size etc.

Hi Ellen, thank you so much. You have really given me an idea of this site and how it works. That would be great to have some help, as I am so new and a little worried, I need to do plenty research and know the ins and outs of sites etc when making such a big purchase!
I am basically looking for a cushion cut with L to W ratio 1.20+(I like it to look more rectangle than square), min SI2, Very good cut+, Colour D-H. Platinum band maybe with side stones like the on BN which I liked. I hope this is enough info, im just getting clued up and decided on these specifics. My budget is around $20,000.
Thank you so much for your kindness :-)

Hi Lorelei, thank you for the warm welcome.
Also im sorry forgot to add size, id like 3ct, if possible.
Thanks again!

You are very welcome!

Ok, you are looking for a fancy cut, and that changes things. I have just the vendor for you! They are extremely reputable, and great to work with. They also do videos! the only vendor who does. This would help you tremendously. You have a phenominal buget, you can get a killer stone with that.

I am going to post a link that has a video of theirs with 5 cushions. Cushions can be cut to different "flavors". Some have large chunky sparkles, other have smaller, more splintery. It's all personal taste. I would first decide which appeals to your eyes, and then contact them. Ask for Jon, he's the head honcho, tell him your budget, and what you are looking for. He is very helpful, and will set you up right! I can't wait to see what you get!

Heres the video.

And here is a link to their site with more cushion videos. (just scroll down till you get to them)

If I've left anything out, just ask!

p.s. They also do custom work on settings.

p.s.s. He has a special cutter for cushions, and you can just about order in exactly what you want. They are extremely well cut, phenominal.

You are most welcome!

I definitely second Jon at GOG, he has some spectacular cushions and is a great guy to boot so you would be in excellent hands with him!
