HEllo.. the first 2 pics are of my ring - the 3rd is the type of head I''d like on my ring...

Thank you.

It doesn''t look like it''d be a problem, looks like a regular peg head, which could be switched.

Thank you SO much for your help! I have a couple more questions!! =( Sorry...

1. Robbins Bros is asking for $4999 for an Elexese princess diamond .76 cts G VS2 (I think).. I''ve seen them for WAAAY less on the internet and was wondering.. are they just overcharging or is it better to just buy it from the same store as the ering? (Robbins Bros)

2. The peg can be swtiched out (it seems) which is great.. but Would I be able to use THIS peg and decorate it with little pave diamonds? (The ering''s band has pave on 3 sides and I''d like it to match.. ) or does it HAVE to be a peg? I hope this question makes sense...

Okay.. pics to demonstrate.... pic 1: my ring''s current head pic 2: wonder if they can insert this head on there instead pic 3: would like to embellish/decorate the head (pic 2) to look like this.. with the paves.....

This peg (pic 2) is different from the one that I have right now - as it doesn''t have that little peg sticking out at the bottom... Would that mean that I have to stick to a head (for the princess) that looks more like this below? or can pic 2 work?

=(

The stick goes into a little hole in the shank. If you want diamonds on the basket, it'll probably be a custom job. That's pretty expensive for the Elexese.

JulieN,

Thank you so much for all your help. I have been kicking and screaming trying to find the answers to my questions for months now! Here I decide to finally join PS and VOILA! HERE YOU ARE TO ANSWER THEM! You are the best and thank you so much.

Is the Elexese something that ONLY robbins bros carries? IT''s a little annoying because they convinced the bf that it would be in his best interest for us to get the diamond from them as well (since the ring was custom made there). I''ve googled and I''ve searched high and low on random websites and Elexese or not, $5000 seemed waaaay over what others were charging. I don''t even know what the Elexese means!

He''s going to go to RB again this weekend and see if they can lower the price a bit - as it just seems waaay too high. I''m even thinking about giving him printouts of reputable diamond dealers on the web that are charging HALF of what RB is charging... =( I don''t know what to do...

I think it is exclusive to RB. You could get a 1 ct G SI1/VS2 or thereabouts for 5K. If you bought a diamond from, say, WF, they could also make the head for the stone.

I wonder how much they''d charge to make the head...... I also was wondering.. Robbins Bros said that since we bought the ring from them and "are planning on getting the center diamond too" from them, they said that they have a lifetime warranty on the ring setting and any and all diamonds.. I tried to find out what the significance of the elexese diamonds are but.. can''t seem to find info anywhere...

I''m so sorry but one more question (in addition to the ones above)....

What is WF?

Sorry. Whiteflash.

No. http://www.elexese.com/ - gives you locations. The cut does not look like anything you cannot find anywhere else. If you are in California, it looks like the brand is only carried at Robbins Bros, but outside of California it is carried at other locations. I am personally not a Robbins Bros fan - I found them to be incredibly pushy (and overpriced), and if you ask an educated question they get incredibly defensive and belittling. If you can, hold off on purchasing at this time and read on these boards and educate yourself (start with the advanced tutorials) - if you decide to purchase elsewhere (for example from one of the reputable internet dealers that are mentioned by users on here), I am sure you would be very happy with your purchase (and would save a lot of $) - if you do decide to go with Robbins Bros in the end, you are best served if you make sure you are educated first. Also, if you do decide to purchase a stone from them make sure you find out who did the grading report first - and if it is from a lab that you have never heard of don''t buy their line "We are the largest engagement ring dealer in So Cal and if we had to send every stone to GIA and wait for them to grade it and send it back, then we would not have any stones left to sell".

The experts on this board are extremely nice and incredibly helpful - I am sure you will learn a lot - Good luck!

Wowsers. Thank you so much for your input. The only reason why we were thinking about going to Robbins Bros is because A: they owe us a "corporate discount" on the loose diamond - due to an error on their part... The initially quoted us $5000 for that princess diamond I mentioned above (the Elexese). I''m sure I''ll be disappointed but I am hooooooooooooping that this "CORPORATE" discount is going to bring it down to maybe HALF? Probably not, right? =( In any case, I guess the bf doesn''t want to run into problems with "oh well, the warranty for this is void because................la la la". I think he wanted both from the same place for that reason. I''m scared now! I''ve read so many posts on here .. for the last.... 6 hours? and I haven''t been able to get up off my chair. I have found so much helpful info - but most of it seems to scare me more than anything else. %s here and there and Robbins Bros'' warranty being void for some folks and what not, princess cut diamonds chipping and being the worst fancy shaped diamond.... Ack! I feel like a hypochondriac reading through a medical journal or something!
