So I finally talked my fiance into buying online. Can you walk me through how it works? say with GOG or WF

do you pick out a particular diamond and email them about it? do you just call or email them and tell them what you are looking for and give them a budget and maybe some pics (saved from PS) showing the type of setting style you are looking for?

I want a diamond and want them to do the setting as well. Probably pave with a "halo" setting.

wf just came out with their own halo design, you could give them a call and tell them what you are looking for as far as center stone size and work from there. they make diamond buying easy.

Though you mentioned my two favorite vendors, sometimes using the web drives you back home. Using Pricescope, at least make sure you use the search facility to search on DC, but you may still do best with the options you''ve already mentioned. Check out the link below my signature for some additional suggestions. Partly, you''ll want to determine how much you want to do it yourself, or leave it up to them to drive the process. But, having decided to "go on line," you''ve probably increased your chances for success.

I have some questions too along the same vein. Once you purchase a ring, I''ve read it recommended that you have it sent to a local independent appraiser, and then pick it up from them after they verify the cert. Can they appraise it in the setting? I would like to purchase the stone/setting from the same vendor, and I''d like to surprise my gf (i.e., no input from her at all). What if I''m 1/2 a size off on the ring? Is it easy to have it re-sized? Or should I just have it set in the cheapest setting they have, and then send it all back to them after proposing? At least then my gf would have some input on the setting.
TIA!

Hi..

I just bought me diamond from WF....They were great...I first looked on the PS site for stones and on the WF site for stones. I took down the stone info and when I called I asked them for the opinion on the stone. I also told them what my budget was and what I was looking for and they even sent me info on some other stones that I hadn''t seen.

Once a stone was chosen with a GREAT price, we started to talk about custome making a setting. I sent pics and asked for their opinions...we worked great together.

From beginning to end everything took less than a month (we took a bit longer since I was away on vacation and had to get back to them and Hurricane Rita)...everything would have been about 2 weeks...very fast..

I have to say I am so in love with My diamond and my setting!

Good Luck
Annette

ps...WF has amazing customer service!

Hey I am new at this too. Could you clarify with the full names of these online vendors? What do the initials stand for? I am looking for a diamond, platinum wedding band and I want to be able to look online. Thanks!!

Thanks ATroop. That is helpful. I have to say, I am certainly hearing great things about WF and I found a couple interesting diamonds on their site.
