What is the difference between a carat and a point. For instance, saying a diamond is 30 points as compared to 1/4 carat or whatever. Thanks!
 
a point is one-hundredth of a carat.

it's easier to use points for people who are bad with fractions.
 
100 points equals 1 carat.

1/10 carat equals 10 points, 1/4 carat equals 25 points, 1/2 carat equals 50 points, etc.
