Hi Everyone,

I posted some pics yesterday but they didn''t all show up so here''s try #2.

I''ve been in the market for a cushion cut diamond around 1.2 carats and have located 4 diamonds of interest. I beleive I''m going to have LM create the ring in setting similar to the Simple Tiffany Legacy. Here recommended a ratio of around 1.05 for this setting.
1) 1.20ct G VS1 GIA 6.48x5.85x4.03 Pol:VG Sym:GD Flour:None Table: 63% Depth: 70.4% Culet: Large $7,400
2) 1.20ct F VS1 GIA 6.40x5.96x4.12 Pol:EX Sym:VG Flour:None Table: 63% Depth: 69.1% Culet: Slightly Large $8,000
3) 1.20ct E VS1 GIA 6.36x5.81x4.09 Pol:VG Sym:VG Flour:None Table: 65% Depth: 69.7% Culet: None $8,300
4) 1.21ct D VVS2 GIA 6.87x6.43x3.99 Pol:VG Sym:G Flour:None Table: 62.1% Depth: 59% Culet: Large $7,622

As of now, I like the 4th diamond the best as it has the chunky antique look, but would love some advice. The first three are from a guy named Adam that LM recommended, and the 4th is from Gary at EngagementRingsDirect.

Here''s the picture of the first 3 diamonds:

I personally like the fourth one best...but really, you can''t go wrong with any of them. The first three are gorgeous, just more modern looking.

Based on the photos together with the specs, I think option 4 provides the best bang for the buck.

Did you ask Gary or Mark about the following cushion?

1.20ct F VVS2 GIA 6.30x6.10x4.17 Pol:VG Sym:G Flour:None $8,076 : GIA Report 17183245

Certainly worth asking, but just FYI, the diamonds on ERD''s website aren''t hand selected by Mark for the most part, it''s just a virtual database. So often Mark won''t actually recommend them because they don''t perform as well as others.

NOT saying that is the case here, but just something to be aware about with their website.

Does a large culet on a cushion take away from the brilliance? I believe that a large culet is part of the way an antique style is cut, and I''ve read some posts on PS saying that it''s really up to what you prefer, but I''d be interesting to hearing some people''s opinions on this.

Thanks,
Mike

Thanks,

Just depends on what you prefer IMO. I am sure in certain circumstances it might, but the stone you showed looks beautiful to me.

HI:

D yum. VVS yum. Chunky yum. #4 gets my vote.

cheers--Sharon

Just a note - the one I recommended is in house with ERD and I believe he actually owns it right now. It was selected by Mark for us previously and I have seen it in person. It is not an antique cushion but has a nice shape and sparkles beautifully. My bofyriend raised our budget during the search and let that one go.
