newbie need help with diamond

hi all,

I'm planning to purchase an engagement ring for my gf soon. However, I don't know much about jewelry or specificly diamond. I've done a little bit of research about the 4 C's but still not confident about my knowledge.

Here are the basic specs I'm looking for:

price range: 10k-12k
1 ct or slightly larger (she has a ring size of 4 so I think a 1 ct is good size for her finger..right?)
round cut

umm...that's pretty much it

so what would you recommend as the highest priority in the diamond I should be looking for and how to balance out the other attributes to be within that price range?

Thanks for point those 2 out. I forgot to mentioned that she wanted color of F or better.

I''ve found these 2 choices. They basically look the same to me. Can someone give me some pointer on which is the better diamond? They''re about the same price range.

After doing further research, I''ve found the following diamond. However, it''s table size is a bit higher than what most in here recommends. Do you all see this as a problem? Here are the specs for it.

1.07ct
VVS1
color E
polish excellent
symmetry excellent
fluorescence None

Table: 59%
Depth: 59.7%
Crown angle: 33.5
Crown % = 13.5%
Pavilion angle: 40.8
Pavilion % = 43.0%
culet = none

I tried the HCA grading website and got 1.1 rating. Is the table of 59% too large?

Difficult to answer without IdealScope or ASET pictures...

All your selections looks good. The table is personal preference, some like larger table some smaller. Is an IS image available for this stone?

Usually a smaller table is preferred ( 54- 57%) but it isn't a deal breaker necessarily. The diamond has potential, ASET or Idealscope would be helpful if you can get them.

Do you have the star and lower girdle facet percents also please? These will be on the diamond diagram on the report.

Thank you all your replies. The 3rd diamond doesn''t have any of those images type. All it has is a GIA certificate. Would I still be able to bring ti to an appraiser to look at if it''s already mounted on a ring?

Thanks, that looks fine. Yes an appraiser can still inspect a diamond as mounting permits.
