Hi all,

Thanks for any help in advance. I have been perusing this site for sometime, waiting until the right moment to purchase my diamond and setting. I have settled on the Tacori 2620RDP (that setting seems to be popular on this site). Here is a link to the setting: http://www.tacori.com/Engagement-Rings#/2620RDMDP

The settings comes in several sizes. The small size of the setting is for diamonds from 6.3 - 6.8. The medium size setting goes from 6.9 and up (I forget the upper end of the spectrum for the medium sized). Anyway, I am looking at diamonds that happen to be between 6.8 and 6.9. I've gone to several jewelers and looked at the tacori settings. The tacori settings in their showcase have the largest diamonds for that specific setting. For instance, the small size setting has a diamond in it that measures 6.8. I am worried that if I get a diamond closer to 6.9 and put it in the small setting, a lot of the small halo will be covered. On the other hand, I am worried that if I get the medium size setting, the diamond will get lost in the setting.

I am not worried about the price difference between the small and medium size setting.

Any suggestions or advice???

Thanks!!!

I think the best option is to find your stone FIRST, Then you will be able to pick the best setting. Also I would suggest contacting Good Old Gold ( www.goodoldgold.com ) They carry Tacori and from everything I have heard here FABULOUS to work with and will not stear you wrong.

Hope that helps and good luck

Yes, you really can't even think about it until you choose a stone. For your peace of mind, though, go with 6.7 or 6.9 and then you won't have a dilemma!!! ;))

So I have picked my stone.

Here are the specs:
Shape: Round
Carat weight: 1.20
Cut: Excellent
Color: H
Clarity: SI2

Depth: 61.9%
Table: 56.0%

Symmetry: Excellent
Girdle: Thin to medium
Culet: None
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 6.82*6.86*4.23

For what it's worth, Tacori is very very good at making custom changes to the crown of the ring based on your stone, so it wouldn't be a huge deal to go with a the RD MD P (medium) instead of the RD SM P (small) With that said, when you're in touch with your jeweler, I'd ask them to get a hold of Tacori and get their personal opinion - considering they set thousands of their own rings, they would know best.

There is also a non-pave version of this band - you'll find it on the website as 2620 RD LG (though it is also available in a small and medium size) and is about 800 dollars cheaper, for what it's worth :)

Cheers!

Well, you are right in between the two, so I also think someone will need to call Tacori for you. I wouldn't depend on the opinion of a sales rep unless they have done a ring with that size stone before and can show you the end result! I also like the one with the plain shank a lot.
