Newbie looking for a lot of help!

Hello all,

I'm currently in the market for an engagement ring and I don't know where to start. I've been told to stay away from big chain jewelry stores but other than that, I'm lost. My ultimate goal is to get the most bang for my buck without getting ripped off. Would my best bet be to find a broker and go through them, find a used ring or buy online? So basically I am looking for the band and diamond. My budget is roughly 10k but I would like to spend a little less if possible.

You've come to the right place! Can you tell us a bit more about what you're looking for? What setting styles does your significant other like? What shape of diamond does she like? If she has a Pinterest board, this is a great place to snoop. I think you'll find everyone on here will steer you toward Pricescope vendors (Whiteflash, Good Old Gold, James Allen and a few others). Most PS vendors have physical storefronts but also do a lot of online sales. If you're interested in used or "preloved" settings, other vendors like Jewels by Grace have a lot of vintage and antique rings. They all have excellent return policies, which is very important in case you don't like the diamond after you see it in person.
