Hello all!
I have been lurking on this board for over 3 years now (I know, I know...) and finally decided to register so I can post on all the wonderful threads. I just wanted to give a quick introduction because I feel like I know you all and you know nothing about me!
My fiance (Kevin) and I met four years ago at work. We were just friends for the first 2 years and then came the work happy hour that changed it all
I told him to make sure he did research on my ring and told him about this site. He picked out a beautiful 1.24 carat Radiant and had it set in a white gold tiffany style setting. I love it more then anything. He did a great job!
He asked me to marry him last April and we have been planning ever since. We decided in the beginning that we didn''t want a big wedding--but we both have big families and couldn''t bring the quest list down past 350 people. So we decided on a destination wedding. My immediate family hates to fly so we started pursuing other options. We finally decided on a cruise. We will be getting married on the ship in Baltimore before it sails on a 5 night cruise to Bermuda. Each of our families were thrilled! We have over 75 people sailing with us.
A short time after we started planning, my dad got really sick. He has been a diabetic all his life but has never taken care of himself and it finally caught up with him. He started to lose his sight very quickly so I decided I needed to find my dress. I went to 4 bridal shops looking for a "destination" dress. I liked a lot of them but nothing made me feel like a bride. I was about to give up when the bridal consultant handed me a dress and said "I know it is not the style you wanted, but just put it on!" I came out of the dressing room and my mom said I looked like I was going to faint! My face was red and I was breathing funny. I saw myself in the mirror and started bawling. My mom came over and hugged me and said "I don''t care how much it is, we''ll take it!". My dress is Anjolique 920. (NewEnglandLady wore the same one to her wedding). I brought my dad to the store the next day and he saw me in my dress. It was a moment I will never forget. He is almost completely blind now but he has still vowed to walk me down the aisle (my mom will walk on the other side of him).
We will not be having a bridal party but my three sisters will each do a reading and his brother will hold the rings. My flowers will be gerbera daisies and cala lillies in pinks and oranges.
I think that is enough for now! I look forward to joining in the conversation!
