Hello experts! I am in need of some help. My girlfriend, whom I''d like to become my fiance shortly, likes cushion cut diamonds. I''ve tried to educate myself, and have been doing a lot of research and shopping. Because I''m looking at a fancy shape, I''m under the impression that a grading for "cut" is somewhat ambiguous. I have found a 2.85 carat cushion modified brilliant, I, VS2, that measures nicely in my opinion (9mmx7.75mmx5.2mm). The face measures larger than many of the 3.0-3.1 carat stones I''ve been looking at, and dimensionally this stone is the "shape" that she likes. I also think it sparkles very nicely! It is GIA cert, no culet, good polish, good symetry, and faint fluoresence. I have a few questions. First, do you think that a depth of 66.9% and table size of 64% is acceptable? I am unsure of this and don''t want to get a stone that is unacceptably shallow. Also, can you give me an idea of what a fair price for this loose stone would be. I really like this stone even though it is not a full 3 carats. I don''t want to make a bad decision, and I know I need to follow my heart as much as my financially programmed brain. I am hoping that upgrading won''t be an issue for quite some time (if ever at all), but making a good business decision is of importance to me. From what I''ve seen, the cushions are all over the board regarding price, but I am hoping to secure a stone before the holidays due to perceived price increases that time of year (correct or not??). To me it seems more scientific and less ambiguous when you''e purchasing a round or princess, and I just want to make sure I''m on the right track. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very very much! Ryan
