Or at least its ''big'' to me!! ;-)

I am looking to buy a Tiffany 3 stone ring which is neither here nor there, however the centre stone is as follows

2.09 cts
Colour D
Clarity VS1
Radiant

Depth % 67.2 (too deep?)
table % 68
culet none
crown angle 36
pavilion depth % 50.9
girdle thin to med

cut excellent
symmetry good
polish good

no enhancements/no holes/noclouding/ no graining BUT fluorescence of mb (which worries me!)

This is the main part of the ring, a couple of triangular colour D VS1 triangles each side to about .75crt

Does anyone have any idea what this type of stone would be worth or look like. I am in the UK, the stone is in the US!!!
Thanks for your help, I ma very keen to start a modest collection and as they say, every journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step and I would hate to fall on my arse on the first step!!

Kind regards

Rossi

Unfortunately with fancy cuts it''s anyone''s guess what it looks like. You should ask for close up pictures at least.

Ok, thanks for the quick reply! Here''s a pic, see what you think

It looks beautiful. May I ask what your purpose is with this collection? If it''s for amusement and your own enjoyment, then buy away. But please just be aware that despite the marketing diamonds are not an investment. So just wanted to make sure you''re in it for the right reasons!

Well you''ve go to put your money somewhere because the banks aren''t a safe bet over here any more!

This is a 40th birthday present for my wife (and 50th and 60th!!)

I have done some research and used the figures in the HCA calculator but I''m not sure if that is just for round diamonds?

This is a huge expenditure for me and although most of the data looks fine (to my untrained eye) I would like to know if there is anything that screams ''don''t do it!) and also what you think something like this may be worth.

Cheers

HCA is only for rounds, it will not do anything for other cuts.

Congrats on your anniversary! It is VERY sweet to want to buy your wife something so great. Unfortunately the HCA only works for rounds, you just have to use your eyes with fancies. As to what it''s "worth", if it''s from Tiffany''s, you''ll pay their price and there is not really any negotiating, so it''s really a mute point. But it''s a beautiful ring!

Thanks very much for all your help with this. Alleviating fears is usually the first challenge in proving to yourself that your making sane judgements on an insane purchase!! I will keep you updated.

Kind regards

Rossi

Hi Rossi,

It is a beautiful ring, are you sure it is a genuine Tiffany if you aren't buying from them directly?
