Dear PScopers..

I found on a resell site a european cut, M and Si-1. I would like to know the fair price for this stone. Seller is asking under $7,000 and it looks very nice. Should I try to ask for less?

So the stone is ungraded by a recognize lab?

Best to get an independent appraiser to look at it then.

As far as I know it''s not.

I''m trying to get a picture I can post if that might help.

it might be small

Depending on the weight, guessing around 2c from the diameter, but could be lighter if it is a shallow cut, and the color and clarity is as is, looks like a good price.

So, best to get it appraised to get the actual weight down and confirm the color and clarity.

I am looking at this database as a rough guideline.

That list is helpful, thanks :)

Well the seller has this in the sale

8.16 x 4.81

M

Si-1

She says it's between 1.85 and 1.95

I also have my eye on a 1.98 L VS that's $9,000 but the price on this seems good to me

Unfortunately we can't judge the size/ weight of a diamond with any accuracy by a photo, if you want to buy this diamond definitely get an independant appraiser involved, you may be able to find one in your area here.

This diamond will probably show some tint being an M colour, is that ok with you?

Is that a private sale or by a vendor?

If private and a stone ungraded by a reputable lab, I think the price can be bargain down somewhat. Ungraded stone are discounted compared to graded stones. Private sales usually comes to around 50% of listed vendor price.

It''s a private sale.

I was thinking of asking $6,000 and no, the color does not bother me. I have smaller diamonds of lower color and I like them

Good luck. :)

Ok then thats fine, just be aware larger stones can show more colour than smaller ones and do get an appraiser involved in the sale - best of luck and let us know how you get on!
