Hello all, I am an absolutely new member and very new when it comes to diamonds. I am considering 5 diamonds at B&M and I have seen them in person, but at this point only indoors in their special lighting. I was just hoping that you might help me to perhaps eliminate some with bad specs or focus on one or two that appear to have good specs. Thanks ahead of time for your help. Any advice you could offer on these would be very much appreciated. Thanks!! Hopefully I didn''t mess up inputting all the numbers!

i like the last one, good measurements, love fluorescence. the others too deep, too big table.

the experts will be here shortly (I am not one!)

I couldn''t run the cut advisor on all of them, but I think that the last one has a rating of 2.6, the 2.02 carat one I think is rated at 2.2, and the 1.52 carat stone has a rating of 1.5. I don''t know how much that should factor in to my decision...

oh, duh. the ones I like run 2.4 2.6, in the green area above the words young people on the graph (very nearsighted).

again, wait for the calvary to arrive. the calvary ain''t me

The cavalry hasn''t swarmed yet...hehe. Please any thoughts or suggestions you have would be great. One specific question I was wondering about is whether I should be concerned with the fluorescence with these stones in the D-F color range. Tomorrow I am planning to look at the stones in natural light, because the fluorescence was not noticable in the indoor lighting. Is there something I should look for once I have the stones with fluorescence outdoors? Thanks!

number 1 or 2

also: get a Sarin on number 1, and number 4 is deep, but I wouldn't totally pass over it because it's the biggest one...get PA and CA on that.

Well I'm not the calvary as I am not an expert, but my personal preference would be the second one. I would prefer a GIA certified stone over HRD and EGL if it were me and I like the numbers on that one. I would just want to make sure that it is eye clean and that the flourescence is not a problem (shouldn't be, my F diamond has medium blue and it is just fine). If it looks good to you outside it should be okay.

Sundial, what should I look for when I have it outside...like what would fluorescence look like if it is a problem? It may be hard to describe...but I am really a newbie and I''m not sure what to look for.

It is my understanding that in rare cases diamonds with fluorescence (especially strong) can look cloudy. As I said my F colored diamond has medium blue and it looks just like any other diamond. In lower colors it can actually make the diamond look whiter.

If you don''t notice anything, there is no problem! My stone has medium florescence and I have never noticed it! I agree with Sundial that I''d only choose between the GIA stones, so I guess #2 would be my pick of those.

I also would only consider GIA or AGA diamonds. My diamond has faint flourescence and it glows a light violet in direct sunlight.
