Regarding this stone - http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-VS2-Premium-Cut-Round-Diamond-1257428.asp, I''m still waiting on more photos and the idealscope image from JA. In the image they have, and the GIA report, the stone looks really flawed. How worried should I be?
This diamond shows potential, VS2 * should* be eyeclean but the only way to know is to ask the vendor to inspect it for you, you can''t tell by photos or the plotting diagram of a grading report if a diamond is eyeclean or not. Also ask them to check it from all angles, clarity grading is done face up so even if it is clean from the top view, it isn''t impossible you could see a small inclusion from the side, ask them to check it for you to be safe.

Did you see the 10x image they have posted? You can kind of see some markings on the top.

Yes I did, no way to tell from that if the stone is eyeclean or not, what I would do is ask for Julianna the gemologist to take a look at it for you, that should put your mind at rest whether this diamond is eyeclean or not, chances are good it could be being VS2.

That is a 10X image and magnified to whatever screen size that is your PC. Shrink it down to it''s actual diameter and see how small it is and if you can still see the inclusions? As have been said before, no way to judge just by the image or plot, only the vendor with the stone in his hand can safely say.

Just called JA, Julianna is there Tues & Thurs.....will call back tomorrow. Anyone else I should ask for today? Thanks for the advice. What do you think of the diamond from what you can see? I really want it to sparkle :-) 1.8 ct, round brilliant, is what I''m looking for. My budget for the stone is $13.5. Am I being too cheap for that size stone?

Thats good and you are most welcome! Ask for an Idealscope image if you haven't already done so for this diamond, that will be helpful and I think your budget and specs are fine.
