Been searching for a couple weeks now for the Novo replica. I seem to have found that down in LA, so that is done. This company has a great copy, and I will be sure to post pics once I receive it next week.

Also went searching in LA for a diamond (1.80 to 2.00 ct). It was tough. Of all the 5 places I visited I looked at a total of 6 diamonds. All of them had to run out and get the diamond. Nobody seem to have inventory, which makes sense in this economy. I totally understand. I now have ventured online for my stone purchase. I came across a diamond from BN and I would like to get some advice.

GIA Report 5/14/09
Dia - 7.90x7.94x4.69mm
Ct Weight - 1.84
Color - I
Clarity - VS1
Cut Grade - Excellent
Polish - Excellent
Symmetry - Very Good
Flor - None
Note - On GIA report I see no visible inclusions
Price - $12,678

The jeweler making the setting is trying to sell me a couple 1.71 H color diamonds for around $12k, but the all the specs are very good. He says not to go with I.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks,

MKIV98TT

What shape are you looking for?

Can you list down the GIA report number? I can't make it up from your image.

Pretty blurry. I''ll try to get it.

Symmetry is not EX but VG.

You could ask admin if maybe they could resize the image so it is legible and post it for you.

This stone''s angles looks fine but the thick part of the girdle is hiding some weight, which make it look slightly smaller, have a smaller face up dimension.

Well guys.....I''m lost. Just can''t seem to find what I want. Any ideas?

MKIV98TT,

Ok, got it.

Report check.

No liking it, pavilion is too steep at 41.8 for a crown of 33.0. Will have leakage.
Pavilion angle is too steep period, well cut diamonds do not have such steep pavilion angles, also it is undesirable in a near colourless diamond due to possible colour entrapment issues, pass on this one. The second is what we call a steep deep as QM says and it has too much depth which will make it look small for the weight.

Also as QM says if you are willing to buy online and post all the details we could find some diamonds that might suit you.

Would you consider SI1 if verified eyeclean to help the budget?

Thanks for all the help and feedback Stone-Cold11

My GF is a 4.5 ring size, I went with the 1.78ct over the recommended 2.02ct, but got H-VS2 over the I-SI1. I''ll have it by Tues! Can''t thank you enough for the advice.

Very nice. So she''ll wear a fantastic diamond while you''ve got your car. :) I''ve been eyeballing the MKIV TT for a few years - so difficult to find them unmolested for the right color & price.

LOL - I actually sold my MKIV a year and a half ago when the market was better. With low miles, I managed to sell the car for more then I purchased it new for :-)

Yep, that sounds like the MKIV TT market since 2001, especially the 6spd. One of the few relatively affordable cars from the 90''s that consistently appreciates in value. I made the mistake of buying a 350Z grand touring new for $38k in late 2005 when I should have just bought a low mile black on black 6-speed for that price. Still kicking myself over that decision.

Stone-Cold11 - Thanks for all the help last week. Regarding this stone - http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-VS2-Premium-Cut-Round-Diamond-1257428.asp, I''m still waiting on more photos and the idealscope image from JA. In the image they have, and the GIA report, the stone looks really flawed. How worried should I be?

Just ask JA. You can''t really judge if it is eye-clean or not based on the clarity plot. This is use to just mark the location of the inclusions using a 10X loupe, most are probably invisible to the naked eye at VS2 level.
