So I bought a rock off BN and my lady and I were looking for mounts but she couldnt find anything that was to her liking except jareds....

Can I still bargain with the salesperson after I bought the mount? I felt very rushed by the salesperson and it was good pitch and he ensured us there was a 30 day money back guarantee. We bought the mount for 899.00 which was sticker price on the mount and now that we have a our rock we need to go mount it but they said I need to bring it back to them or it voids all warranty. So the mounting costs $89 and some insurance $59.

Im not even sure of the specs on the ring

I really think once you''ve agreed to a deal, you''ve agreed to a deal. What type of discount off the $899 were you hoping for? That sounds like a really low price for a setting anyway. I would still have them set and size the ring, as they say, to be under their warrantee.

I don''t think they would have any motivation to lower the price since you already bought it. Do you have pics?

You''re not likely to have luck trying to negotiate on an already-purchased item.

However, you say that you have a 30-day money back guarantee. Are you still within that period? If so, you can return this setting and perhaps find another you can secure at a more favorable price.

Jareds won''t negotiate. What does the warranty cover and what is the $59 insurance for?

i only bought it 3-4 days ago

i thought I could get it set for free at least...the warranty covers free lifetime sizing and free rhodium plating every 6 months (maintenance thing) i think thats what they said. And it covers if one of the smaller rocks fall out of the semi-mount that i bought from them.

it seems a little absurd to be nickle and dimed like this

so my 899 purchase in the end is

899+89(tax ouch 10% in IL)+89(setting)+59 (warranty)=1136

i gotta go there in 1 hr

im taking my girl there also so I dont want this to turn embarassing for her.

Should i just say give me the setting for free and the warranty or I'll just return it?

Can you take pics of it and then look into having something similar custom made by Knox or someone?

prices look steep to me

i would prefer to keep the ring i have now and haggle down the service fees?

what are my chances?

is $89 mounting fee and $59 warranty a little extreme considering i paid full sticker price on the ring itself

******Update********

So i ended up going to Jareds yesterday and from the moment I walked in with my Blue Nile diamond I could see they were insulted/mad/confused.

She asked me everything about the diamond including cost and I politely answered all the questions. They were trying to convince me that their warranty covers everything including loss and theft and I listened through the whole speech which took about 20 mins.

When I started getting impatient she went to go look at it in the microscope. THEN she says there is a tiny chip in the girdle. I looked and i couldnt tell if it was a polish mark or a chip.

Gosh I really hate Jareds....

Now my lady is uncertain and I am uncertain about keeping this diamond.

Dont know whether to trust a salesperson to make an expert decision about a diamond.

That’s why new purchase customers looking for a second opinion are far better off with an independent. appraiser. No, you should not trust the opinion of the sales lady. Hire a pro and do it now while you're still within your return period with Blue Nile. It's unlikely that they would ship a chipped stone but it's poison for you and your lady to be worrying about it.

Ditto.

And Sun, even the online stores charge a setting fee if the stone was not also purchased through them. Usually around 100-150, so you're not being nickel and dimed per se.

ok thanks guys
