I was trying to search for old threads as I know there are many, but the function is broken so I''ll just ask

I will be in NYC early June for 3 nights over a weekend

If you could give any recommendations for hotels (midtown, or upper west side preferably) and anything else I shouldn''t miss I would greatly appreciate it!! I will be there with my sister for her 30th birthday

I like the Hudson. I used to stay there when I went to NY for work. It''s on 58th St. link

I usually stay in the W hotels. I''ve been in all of them and the oldest W (forgot the exact address) has really small rooms! So FYI. I don''t know about the upper West Side hotels, which honestly seem out of the way. I prefer staying in Midtown.

DH and I love the Mayfair Hotel on 49th, but it has a HORRIBLE rating on Tripadvisor so I''ll just say that *we* usually have a nice time, there. The rooms are super small, but very cute, and I like it.

We also like the W Hotel in NYC.

Thank you thing2of2, winternight, Haven, and megumic! I have checked them out and they all look great. I''ve not made a decision yet, there are so many choices...

We have family staying in the upper west side so that is why I included that area. However, I want to be close to the shopping (and diamond district

...) so that we don''t have to waste too much time on transport.

Does anyone have recommendations for night life? This trip is for my sister and she loves to dance and have a few drinks. Oh my, I will be so out of my element haha.

Do you know ANYONE who works for ANY Starwood hotel? My best friend works at a W and she gets us the most killer rates for all Starwood hotels. Up until a year or so ago employees only had a certain number of "hot rates" that they could give out, but since the economy has tanked they can now give out unlimited nights to their friends and family.

DH and I paid either $69 or $89 a night for our $600+ a night room at the Westin Resort in St. John. It's totally worth doing a little networking if you know ANYONE who works at a Starwood property.

I've never stayed in a W that I didn't like, by the way.

You must have had such a fantastic time in St. John!

Freke-I was looking at the Hilton hotels, that one is a little more than the others but the location probably makes it worth it! I''m glad you recommend it.

Thanks so much!
