On Saturday I met with the owner/wedding coordinator of "Cav", the restaurant we''re considering for the wedding. I took pictures, but I forgot to upload them, so I''ll do it tonight. I''m 99.9% sure we''re going to go with this place. Here are some quotes from reviews on it.

They don''t do many weddings, but they want to do more small-scale parties, so they''re willing to do a lot and give us a lot for our $$. So in the per person cost we''ll get:
*Ceremony space in their outdoor patio/courtyard area-including items needed to for the ceremony-chairs, runner, etc.
*Private reception space decorated specifically for the wedding with no time limit.
*Dedicated day-of coordinator.
*Access to their sound system.
*Open wine and beer bar (cash bar for mixed drinks and martinis)
*4-5 appetizers-baked brie, assorted crostini, lobster bisque "shooters", coconut shrimp, and one more TBD
*salad course
*entree (4 choices, fish, chicken/duck, beef, pasta)
*Cake for dessert
*Printed menus and place cards
*Flowers arranged by the owner/coordinator (we''d buy at wholesale cost for about $100-200 depending on what we want)
So for a party at one of the top restaurants in Providence, we think it''s a great deal ($4000-5000 including tax and tip). At the other place we were thinking of we''d have to pay separately for everything (the space $2500, the tables and chairs $1500, the caterer $7000-$10,000, bar $1500, not including tax/tips). And this space is so amazing, it takes your breath away.
So the wedding will be on a Sunday night. We''re thinking July 5th, or the 12th. We''re leaning towards the 5th as it''s a long weekend and a lot of people like to take the week off.
I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. Not only do we have a place again at a price that we have a shot of being able to afford, but it gets us a little more time as well.
Stay tuned for pictures!
