@VividRed,

I'm also a fellow ruby fan (also my birthstone)! While I'm not the owner of the 1.37 stone, I have an amazing stoplight red "classic" unheated old mine Mogok ruby (70% red, 75 tone) that I also purchased from Robert Genis back in 2007. He was really great to work with. It was down to this ruby and one I had sent in from Wink. I can't believe how much my ruby has appreciated in value over the past 12 years. I'm so glad I was able to acquire the ruby before the ban.

My stone has been unmounted in my safe deposit box and I'm just finally deciding to set it in a classic three stone platinum ring with two side diamonds. I'll post when I get it done!

Thank you very much for posting this, such a great ruby! 2.5 color rating is the best of the best, with perfect tone! Today, I recon such a stone would retail for USD 25k (maybe even 30-35 in premium jewelry stores), 18k with good contacts, 12k wholesale and only your name is Richard Hughes :) definitely a great investment if you bought it 13 years ago!

Here we are, as promised.

Pic1 - from left to right: 1.5ct trilliant from Chatham (synthetic); 1.17 heated oval Burmese from AJS; 1.12 unheated oval Mozambique from Inken, 1.01 unheated cushion Mogok from Robert Genis, 1.01 unheated pear Mong Hsu (Burma) from Ed Bristol.

Pic2 and Pic3 - 1.5ct trilliant from Chatham

Pic4 - 1.17ct oval Burmese from AJS

Pic5 and Pic6 - 1.12ct oval Mozambiue from Inken

Pic7, Pic8, and Pic9 - 1.01 pear Mong Hsu from Wildfish (last pic in blazing fluo shot!)

Pic10 - 1.01 cushion Mogok from Robert Genis and 1.01 Mong Hsu from Wildfish - both in sunlight, I love these two sisters!

I only use an iPhone camera, with or without 10x loupe in front of it. I find that the camera tends to pick up quite a bit more pink than the eye perceives (see picture 1 in particular). And the light source plays a lot with the gem facets, which makes it very difficult to capture the beauty of all gems when lines up. The 1.17 from AJS looks pink on picture 1, which is really isn’t

One final note: the 1.01 pear from Wildfish is a wild one: blazing pinkish red fluorescence in direct sunlight, deep blood red in dim light, vivid shiny red under incandescent light.

Your 1.12 ruby is a perfect match for mine.
mine is 1.10 carats. Imagine these set either side of a 5 carat EC diamond.

We just have to find an EC owner to join our “club”. We can each wear the ring for 4 months a year

I am looking for the owner of this ruby.

Robert told me he sold it to a young person some time ago. If I get your nickname right, you’re about my age and I consider that young :)

Yeah, young by Robert's standards :)I've only bought the 2ct+ rubies from Robert, so not able to help you out with this one. But he keeps bringing stones back into his inventory from his clients, so it should come back at some point.

Hi everyone and happy new year!

I just wanted to share some pictures of the latest addition to my collection.

1.01 ct. unheated ruby from Mogok, Burma. AGL certified. see scan below.

Color: true vivid red with medium-dark tone. Extreme fluorescence under UV artificial light and strong in natural daylight. Never blacks out, always looks red.

Cut: no windows or extinction whatsoever, very high brilliance for a ruby.

Clarity: rutile silk cloud running under the table, noticeable under magnification but not so much at arm’s distance. The color is so saturated that the cloud does not detract from the beauty. Apart from that, loupe-clean crystal.

Pictures taken today, indoor with natural daylight only (approx. 3 meters away from the window).

A very nice match to my other unheated ruby from Mong Hsu (also 1.01, unheated and AGL certified), which is slightly lighter in tone and - believe it or not - even more fluorescent. Can’t decide which one I like most!

Mozambique ruby coming soon :)

Happy Sunday! CEE8CCFA-F545-48DB-84C8-F139252F5863.jpeg 12AD4448-81AF-4076-B759-0F6BD350E04F.jpeg 64CA7C71-B8F2-49F8-B5A1-5F1CEF187974.jpeg 058F3290-2EA7-4B2F-A543-DDA9892799AA.jpeg 365BA929-A482-4E67-BB63-719519E18959.jpeg
