New to PS, have a few questions

So far from what I have read, so many of the forum folks are GREAT!!!
I am in Atlanta and looking for an engagement ring; here are my thoughts and questions:
-I am 95% sure I will buy the stone online following all the advice of the forums.
-I am less sure about the ring; my girlfriend has been gravitating towards platinum rings that have a couple of sidestones (2 on each side in like a stair step config). I am not sure about buying the ring online as it is hard to see them very good; I also haven''t found many sites with a good selection of platinum. So my questions.....
-Anyone know of good jewlers in Atlanta for platinum rings.....either custom jewlers or B&M with good selection and wouldn''t mind setting a stone not purchased from them?
-Are there any online stores with good selection?
-Are custom jewlers significantly more $$$ and is it worth it?

An online vendor who advertises here is in Atlanta, Union Diamond. Maybe I heard they used a different store front name? I''d ask them about stopping in.

I just bought a diamond engagement ring from UD and had a great experience. I flew to Atlanta a couple of times to meet with them as I wasn''t comfortable buying online and they were mroe than happy to meet with me. They are located on Paces Ferry Rd in the Vinings area. I would highly recommend as their prices and selection are competative to other "online" delears and way more competative than a standard B&M. Good Luck.....

Solomon Brothers is in or near Atlanta and they have alot of settings on their site. People on PS have have bought from them. And several have bought from Pearlman''s which is not in Atlanta but has many many settings online. It would be a great site to browse.
