As someone who had never though about buying a diamond until a few months ago, I have to say that finding PS has been a huge help.
I have been trying to learn as much as I can, and I think I have found a good diamond.

http://www.whiteflash.com/round_ideal_cut/round-ideal-cut-cut-diamond-17677.htm#

However, from the rest of my searching the price seems pretty low.
Is there something I am missing here?

I was hoping to get some other opinions to confirm that this is, in fact, a good buy.

Thanks!

IS looks good. Grading report is relatively old, 2004, maybe a trade in stone? Ask WF what is it''s story?

The website had listed it as a new item and to call for availability, and when I talked to WF they said that it was currently out being recertified

If it comes back the same grade, looks like a good deal.

Hi Jeff and welcome!

The diamond looks great, they will be able to tell you if it is a trade in or what the situation is, see what happens when the new report comes back.

So I have been waiting anxiously for almost a month now (I didn''t realize GIA grading takes so long) and the diamond is finally on its way back to WF. They won''t get it until next week most likely, so I will still have to wait for new pictures. I did find the details on the updated report on the GIA report check site though.

Report Type: GIA Diamond Dossier®
Date of Issue: March 08, 2010
Laser Inscription Registry: GIA 13855676
Round Brilliant
Measurements: 5.66 - 5.70 x 3.52 mm
Carat Weight: 0.69 carat
Color Grade: H
Clarity Grade: VS2
Cut Grade: Excellent
Proportions:
Depth: 62.0%
Table: 55%
Crown Angle: 34.5°
Crown Height: 15.5%
Pavilion Angle: 40.8°
Pavilion Depth: 43.0%
Star length: 50%
Lower Half: 75%
Girdle: Medium, Faceted (3.5%)
Culet: None
Finish:
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Very Good
Fluorescence: None
Clarity Characteristics:

So basically the exact same as the earlier report.

Is there anything else I need to watch out for, or is it pretty safe to assume this is a good bet?

I haven''t seen the actual certificate yet but I am assuming I can trust what the report check says, right?

nice numbers.

yap, that''s it. Looks like a good deal.

Its a goodie!

So WF got the diamond back and the pictures are now up at the link that is posted above.

I think I can see some of the problem with the symmetry in the center of the idealscope image. I''m not exactly sure what to call the problem but the center doesn''t seem quite round. Will this affect the diamond, or am I just being too nitpicky?

IS looks very nice. The asymmetry you see is b/c the photo wasn't taken directly head-on - not in the diamond itself

yap, the stone is tilted when the image is taken.

Thanks, glad to hear there is nothing to worry about!

It is tilted. The grade report says VG for symmetry, so that is clear indication that there is no issue in real life.

Its fine, looks like the optical symmetry is slightly off rather than the image as a tilted arrow can be seen in the photo too, but this isn't an issue in an ES diamond, looks like a great stone.
