Spess - 6ct, 10.47mm

I''m a terrible photographer, but I am trying to get better. So please bear with me while I learn. Hopefully you can get a feel for the stones with these pictures.

My sister''s tourmaline - I''m so so so so excited for her to get this! She''s been really down in the dumps lately. I figured a little something sparklie would cheer her up a bit.

She''s moving with her hubby, and moving seems to be a stressful time for everyone, I know she''s not really feeling great about the whole thing right now - I worked with my jeweler to have this set into a David Yurman setting, a white gold, with a yellow gold half bezel, to really pick up the green of the stone. I swear this stone glows like you would not believe. If you put it in a dark room, it would be a night light for you! It is just that gorgeous!

There is absolutely NO WAY in the world I could possibly capture how amazing this stone is - Dan Stair out did himself on this one - when it was set, it was a firecracker! I wish that either myself or my jeweler could have done it justice, my brother in law is going to try when my sister opens it.

Unfortunately, the best picture I have of the tourmaline is with the spinel that I''m getting set for myself. The tourmaline is much darker in this picture - it''s actually a very light minty green.

Tip #1 about photography of gems: really clean them first, then only handle with tweezers.

Your pictures are pretty good though.

Sorry about the stress of your sister moving but it''ll get much better soon. It''s thoughtful of you to get her a tourmaline. I''d bet it''ll cheer her up!

What a nice sister you are! That pretty sparklie will certainly brighten her day :)

All 3 stones are lovely!

I love all three stones. Beautiful colors and sparkles.

Cool stones! I like all three. Your first picture is the best, I love looking at the backside of gems!

Hope your sister feels better soon. Moving can be the pits.

Thank you!

I have just started taking some basic courses on gems (YIPEE!!) and along with that comes the need for some basic equipment for handling gems - so I am shopping for some thing, which will hopefully mean that I will, in the near future, be providing better quality pictures.

All I can tell you, is that finding this forum can make a "like" of sparklies REALLY turn into something MUCH MUCH more!!

I love everyone here for opening my eyes to so many things - what a wonderful hobby I have now.... it''s so much fun!

I have a better picture of the spinel, I just have to find it - there are 300 plus pictures I have to sort through.... and I have to find which ones, when cropped will be postable... some are not usable when cropped. There''s not enough contrast material left, so the picture is pretty much useless - this is what I struggle with when taking pictures, unfortunately.
