New setting. Sell scrap metal?

I'm going to reset my engagement ring. When PSers reset, what do you do with the original setting? Do you sell the scrap metal to the jeweler? I did this for a previous reset and got $100. I feel like it should have been worth more. This setting is platinum 6 prong for a 2ct diamond, still in good shape (just a year old). Should I sell to a 3rd party via preowned? How much can I expect to get?

I would sell it on pre-loved. Scrap is just silly for that. Post a picture, and if you bought it somewhere you can link to link to the setting please. Usually settings are 40-50% off retail. But for some designer settings you can get more than that.
