What is considered a timeless setting? I know the Tiffany is timeless but its a little plain for my taste. I want something that I wont get bored of in a few years.

I looked into the Vatche Royal Crown setting (gorgeous) but it is completely of his range and I know that. Beautiful Pave Setting

OR maybe the the full cut shared prong eternity setting.

How can I decide? The center stone.. we have already selected is a 1.25, its a nice size color and clarity, so I dont want the setting to overpower the center stone.

So confused...

Hi there,

I think plain is classic...you can''t go wrong with the "less is more" theory. But, diamonds create sparkle....and diamonds are also very classic. I think the key is to stay away from obvious trends and maybe look at older/antique rings to see what has been done in the past that is still used today.

My engagement ring is a 2 mm plain platinum band with a channel set eternity wedding band. So you can add diamonds to your wedding band for extra sparkle and leave your engagement ring with a cleaner/simple look if you are concerned that a diamond setting might be too much.

At the end of the day - whatever makes you happy is the right choice

Thanks for your reply.

I was thinking of some. Our jeweler has a vintage, paved, engagement band that is gorgeous, but i dont know how I will feel about it in a few years.

I have been thinking about the below one (the link) and adding the same band but then I go back to.. "will I get bored of it" after a few years...

Anyway thanks for your feedback... will definitely take into consideration! I also thought about that. the plain engagement with a wedding band with diamonds...

I''ve heard people say here that "if you want someone to look at your stone get a plain solitaire" but "if you want someone to look at your ring get a ring with sidestones." I think it makes a lot of sense. Do you want to focus on your diamond or the whole package?

I dunno. I get bored with everything eventually, so this would be a hard decision to make if I had to live with it forever. I''d probably go plainer ER with diamond wedding band(s). I''d also be leery of getting an eternity ER as my ring size did go up over time.

My original rings and my new set both had the diamond in a plain solitaire setting with a diamond wedding band. That''s something that never goes out of style and is always beautiful but simple.
