By Myheartmonster on etsy.

I bought a citrine ring cut by Tom Munsteiner from Thegemtrader. Perhaps the idea itself was not right since I had poor experience with citrines, most of them have brownish tinge (heated, perhaps). But I wanted a special cut, I got a special cut.

I sent it to the artisan, and heare are her vendor's pictures. The ring itself is en route but since my pictures are not good, and I am always late with them anyhow... I decided to post hers. I think it is the best that could be done with this stone, but look at the quality of her work. I think it is great, and I like modern designs.

wowowowow. It is going to be beautiful.

Crasru I really like your style. Refreshingly different from the ordinary halo setting that is so prolifically popular.

Wow, Crasru, I should ask you to help me out with ideas for my next ring too. The artistic twist goes very well with the specialty cut.

You're kidding around, right, underplaying the Tom Munsteiner part of the posting?

If you're not, get a copy of "Masters of Gemstones, Major Works by Leading Jewelers."

You'll be glad you did.

Congrats on getting a Munsteiner.

It has nothing to do with the cut, it has to do with the color of the stone. It is not easy to find a good citrine, since most of them are heated and hence have a tad of brownish in them. I believe Lady Disdain bought an amethyst cut by Tom and I think her stone has a better color and a wonderful cut. I would like to see what she does with it.

I think R.W. Wise has/had a pendant made by Tom and Jutta with a very interesting design and gorgeous specially cut tourmaline in it so I am aware of "gem sculpture" and I do like his cuts, hence I bought Tom's stone.

But look at Chris's ring! I absolutely love the form and the design and I plan to use her talent in the future. She has a bracelet on her website and I wonder if she could modify it to hold my JXR amethyst.

That is amazing! The cut is so cool and I really like the design of the ring. Beautiful!

Whoa! That's way way cool!

That's a work of art!

Looks beautiful, very unique.

Well, I got the ring. It is very, very interesting. And I was wrong about the color of the stone, it is not brownish, just honey. In my photos it has a pinkish tinge, I think it has to do with the light, but it picks up the light around it and behaves almost like a color-changer, which it is not. Very interesting work.

Well, here are some photos which can not capture the color at all. I like Chris's work, I think she is talented and has unusual style. The little mouse (her trademark) is way funny!

Thank you, Treenbean, Matata, Chrono.

Stoniegirl - you were right about the stone! It is just not photogenic, but there is no brown in it at all.
Thank you, Burberrygirl, Kenny, TL, Vapid Lapid, and Lovinggems!

This ring is a keeper. People who see it comment along the lines of "never having seen anything like it".

Big thanks to Chris because without her, the stone would be collecting dust in my gem box!

Also, big thanks to the unnamed person who first mentioned Myheartmonster here on PS. Sorry, I do not remember who it was but she/he has a sharp eye!

Crasru, what a funky ring-it's so cool! I posted a link to her Etsy shop quite a while ago in the Etsy thread in Jewelry Pieces..I'd planned on getting one of her multi bezel rings and I still have yet to do that. I am going to contact Chris shortly about doing a custom semi bezel ring for my yellow round chrysoberyl. I did a search just now to see if anyone had anything from her yet and I'm glad I did-I'd have missed your ring! Well, I saw it in her sold items but didn't know it belonged to a PSer.

You've had it for a couple months..are you still liking it? Do you wear it a lot?

LOVE the ring - I really like well done modern rings like that and yours is really unique.

No idea how i even missed this. I love the clean lines of this ring and the citrine is really lovely in it.

I love unique jewellery and yours is definitely that. I love the sweeping curves of the design and then the straight edges of the stone - they really compliment each other. Did you let the artisan design this completely or did you have a hand in it? It's really beautiful. Out of curiosity what's the metal? Is the citrine tension set with the underneath open? Would you mind taking a profile shot of the ring because I have a feeling that will be very beautiful also.

I love the modern look of this ring! I've actually worked with Chris before too (this was a couple of years ago before I found Pricescope.) She was a pleasure to work with. I might post my pendant I had made by her in a new topic. (If you look through her sold items it's the phoenix pendant all the way in one of the last pages.)

What an artistic way to relate setting to cut. So individual, you're gonna get joy from that for a long time, Crasru.

Smashing!

Packrat - so it were you... Thank you!

Re. the ring. It is incredibly comfortable. I should post the inner side of the hand, it looks unusual from that view as well, but it fits like a leather glove.

Thank you, Colorluv and Arcadian!

LD - She did most of work. I do not have much imagination, worse, I can not think in 3-D perspective. I explained to Chris what I liked, and she did the job. Yes, it is tension set with the underneath open. Made of silver, higly polished, so it looks very nice and compliments the citrine. I shall try to take a side photo. I put my photos on the back burner, bought 3500 K lamps for photography, now I need to figure out this focus with the milk bottle... (Who advised it? Was it Amguy? Need to know what to cut out and where to make a hole for the camera.)

crasru ~

Thanks for showing us your beautiful ring!

I have a garnet ring from Chris and you're right about the comfort level: super comfy! Enjoy your ring. :)

OMG! Extra! Nobody see the person inside one of the pictures? I clearly see a person with a mask and a coat with big gold collar! Incredible! Take a look:
