Hi all I just had the attached engagement ring made and love it, but am nervous that my girlfriend will want to change the dimensions of the band. I wanted and suspect that my girlfriend will want a band that is thinner (the width is fine but think the band is too tall) and rounder. Is it possible to modify the ring, or would i have to get an entirely new setting. The setting/ring is platinum.

Thanks!!

Hi penfold! Great name by the way - is that after the Danger Mouse cartoon?

Anyhoo - I had the same issue with my ering. As I purchased overseas, I didn't want to have it shipped all the way back, so I took it to a trusted jeweller here in Melbourne and for $125 they rounded out the band and thinned the shank down a little in the process. They basically rounded the edges off so they flowed a little more smoothly. Mine is a plain solitaire though, but as far as I can see from the pic, I don't think you would have problems doing it with that ring.

I totally understand your desire to have the band thinned down. As beautiful as the ring is, a thin band was really important to me, and really helps the stone pop and the ring look dainty and elegant.

Good luck!

ETA - Beautiful ring by the way!

Great! That is good to hear. Any other suggestions/comments let me know. Thanks!

Oh, and name is just what came to mind when I was registering...

I don't have an answer but I did want to say it is a beautiful ring, congrats! Who is the designer if you don't mind me asking?

Designed myself based on Harry Winston and Tiffany''s settings...

Wow, what a beautiful ring!!! It is possible to shave down a shank a bit if she would like that.

Don''t have any suggestions, just wanted to say that your ring is beautiful! Would love to see more pics!

Ditto! Would love to see more pics. Great job on the stone and setting!

Sorry, this is the only picture I have right now since it''s in the safe. I will try to take more. Let me know if anyone has any specific suggestions for rounding/grinding down the band. Sounds like it is not that difficult, but want to make sure I know the right things to ask the jewler when I go back.

Thanks
