I am having SERIOUS DSS right now, particularly as I didn't get the Lucida!

So I have to decide how to make my 3ct bigger without it looking gaudy or trying too hard. I definitely do not want to swap it for another larger stone (for eg. the 5.7ct princess I posted about earlier) just for the sake of having a larger stone. I came across this new setting (or at least I think it's new) of the new Tiffany RB. I happen to think it's quite beautiful and classy.

Does anyone know if someone can make a setting like this? My local setter says they can but I don't trust them, esp. as one of the diamonds fell out of my full eternity ring that they'd made for me just a few months ago.

Thanks.

Lien, with all due respect - it happened *yesterday*.

More auctions are coming up. I thought you wanted *another* ring. Patience? Just an idea ...

I know I know!! I am being impatient and acting rather spoilt and childish!

I do want a second ring, maybe a Lucida, maybe a HW Emerald cut. BUT that might not happen for another few months, maybe even another year (God forbid!

).

I've been thinking about re-setting my 3 ct RB for a while now and saw this setting the other day and thought "WOW"!

ETA: THE MOST IMPORTANT THING: Hubby agrees that this setting is beautiful, which is an extremely RARE occurrence. So barring me rushing to the local Tiffany's tomorrow, this is the next best thing.

It''s a pretty setting ... I agree w/that. It just seems like, geez, to get in custom made could take 6-8 weeks AFTER you select the designer. You''d be without your stone the whole time (think diamond SHRINKAGE is bad, wait ''til you try diamond DISAPPEARANCE) ... and by the time your reset is completed you might have a DIFFERENT beauty scratching that itch.

I''m sure a ton of folks will be all "if it makes you HAPPY" blah blah but if it''s really just a distraction to get you through the waiting process for Ring #2 ... I say: wait it out. You''re just upset today. *Feel* your feelings. Don''t fight them.

I know what you mean about "diamond DISAPPEARANCE"!

. Whenever I travel, I don''t wear my 3ct or much else for that matter, usually just an eternity ring and depending on the location, maybe my 3-stone RHR, and I tell you it traumatises me out, LOL!

Wise words, Deco. I will sit it out for a while but would still like to know which designer can make it. At least it will give me something to look forward to

and who knows, I may end up actually having it done after all.

LienTN ... You are a bit of a ratbag.....hahha Be patient! and wait for what you really want. I think you should pump the cash into your new big stone. Take it from someone who reset an EC 5 times. That 3ct is a big sucker but it will still be 3cts, even with a halo. Do you know what I mean?

You don''t strike me as someone who will be happy with a halo for very long.

p.s am I wrong and out of order??

Good morning, Sparkles!

I am not sure what 'ratbag' means but you're right, I am being a bit, ok a lot, of a brat!

No, you're not out of order at all

. I love that PS'ers are so honest and yet helpful at the same time. I can always count on you ladies and gents on PS to keep me straigtht! My DH - my poor long suffering DH - just wants to please me and basically lets me do whatever I wish as far as diamonds are concerned, bless him! Thanks for your honest and constructive input, sincerely. I think Deco has helped too.

Btw, why did you change yr EC five times? Do you mind my asking? Also, why do you say that i am not someone who'd be happy with a halo in the long run?

Lien, I am betting you have a small finger size, and I will just say that I think 3 carat solitaires are plenty big without a halo. I love that Tiffany halo, but I think those are best for people with smaller stones who want them to appear larger. For some reason, I just like larger halos better that are not round.

Lien , I should have used the word rascal!!!!

I changed the EC setting, maybe it wasn''t 5 times, but........I''m not an EC girl - I should have known that before I bought it. I need to see loads of sparkle! So I kept changing "dresses" hoping the body would look different somehow...It did change the overall look a smidge but the centre stone was still what it was! A 2.37ct EC.
