New purchase, gia report dated 3 oct 2011?

Hi all! I had made a wire transfer for this diamond from Yoni, eternity diamond inc.
The gia report is dated October 03, 2011.
Do I need to be concern that the report seems to be taken quite a while back?
Is it possible that it might have been traded in before?
What should I look out for should that be the case other then possible abrasion on the diamond or bearded girdle?
Yoni mentioned that the stone is still with the vendor and it will arrived on monday. He replied that that the stone is perfect all around the edges. Are my worries uncalled for? Hope someone could chip in as I am a little nervous over this first time online purchase:)
Lastly, what do u think if this diamond?
Do u think that the cloud in si1 might make the diamIond appear hazy?

It's possible that it's just a stone that hasn't been sold yet. It's also possible that it was a traded diamond, many are. I wouldn't have concerns purchasing a stone with an Oct '11 report date, that really isn't so long ago. It's also important to consider that even though a report has a current date, it doesn't mean that it's a newly cut diamond that hasn't been traded by another person. Vendors can and will resubmit stones with old reports to assure that the diamond is still accurately described on the grading report. Sometimes stones are re-cut requiring new reports and GIA changed their cut grading in 2006, I believe, so stones graded before that time may be resubmitted for cut grade info. I would be sure to have the diamond independently appraised when you receive it to be sure that it matches the report, you will want to do this for insurance purposes anyway.

I thought that all diamonds with excellent symmetry will display hearts and arrow? Tks
 
It really wouldn't cross my mind that Oct. 2011 would indicate a stone that has been traded in. There are probably plenty of new diamonds from last year that have not yet been sold.

The numbers look good. As always, you need an idealscope image to be sure it has good light performance. I don't think Eternity provides that, so perhaps you are using an appraiser who does?

Most well cut diamonds will display hearts and arrows, but HA is really a brand, which must meet a certain cut criteria. This criteria varies by dealer. I've seen stones listed as HA that were no where close. :eek: But as DS said the numbers on your stone look good, and if it has tight variance then it's likely a very good performer.

EDIT I also agree with DS that its unlikely that this stone was a traded stone.

Can someone help pls? I just saw a si2 ,cloud, excellent cut today in the mall. It is totally hazy! Oh no, what should I do with my si1? I have left a few emails to Yoni, really hope that he will check it out for me before shipping it:( do u think i am gonna have a problem with the si1, cloud...? Tks
 
There's every chance that your GIA-rated si1 will be eye clean, meaning that it would take a loupe to even see the cloud. A GIA-graded si1 will not look hazy. The stone you saw at the mall could have been graded by a firm with more lenient grading standards.
 
Hi VRbeauty, thanks for the reply! It is of a very good cut grade, si2 by gia, similar to my si1, cloud is the only inclusion. Yoni mentioned that it's a hearts and arrow. I believe that hearts and arrow should not appear hazy?!for now,I am hoping that Yoni can check it out and address my concern before shipping it out. I had transfered my payment and really hope it will work out! By the way, may I know if anyone out there had seen a si1, cloud, inclusions on gia excellent cut?
 
Agnes - "hearts and arrows" is an indication of the cut. "Clouds" are part of the clarity rating. The two are unrelated.

Right now, I am holding a pair of earrings, about .38 ct each, that according to thier GIA reports each have at least one cloud and "additional clouds not shown" (on the diagram).

Please believe me when I say that without a loupe I see nothing but sparkle. I can just barely make out the inclusions with a 30X loupe - but they are really tiny, each is just a minute fraction of the overall stone.

And without a loupe and the GIA reports... I wouldn't even know those inclusions were there.
 
Tks vrbeauty I appreciate your help:) however, it seems that my diamond does not have any other inclusion except cloud. And the cloud leads it to si1. Is that a bad sign? May I know if you gia report states only cloud, or are there other inclusIon ls that add on to the clarity grade? And may I know your diamonds clarity grade?:) tks!
 
Agnes - please quit worrying. Your GIA-rated si-1 will be eye clean, and you'll have trouble identifying the inclusions even with a standard 10X loupe. I'm sure your diamond will be beautiful!

Keep in mind a fresh lab report is no guarantee you are not buying a death diamond or divorce diamond.

Nobody throws away a diamond after a divorce, and I doubt many women's wishes to be buried with their diamonds are honored.

Over the years I've bought about 25 diamonds from retail vendors, all with GIA or AGS reports.
Every time I have asked a vendor about the origin of the diamond they invoke the 5th.
 
Hi kenny tks for the reply!i am not really bothered about the date of the report since Yoni mentioned the diamond is Perfect around the edges, no abrasion or bearded girdle. My concern now is only on the si1, cloud inclusion. I guess the si2, gia diamOnd I saw yesterday freaks me out!:)
 
You can also ask Yoni to check it out and make sure it's eye clean before he ships it to you. Good luck!
 
Hi VRbeauty, yes I did leave him a couple of email requesting for him to check out the diamond, if the clouds affect the brilliance in anyway I would like to choose another piece instead. He had not replied as i believe they are close on sat. Looking forward to his professional advice. It would really be disappointing if a diamond of that specs is affected by the cloud.. I will Keep everyone update here!Tks
 
Hi everyone! I had just received Yoni's reply. He said "The cloud inclusion is really buried deep inside the diamond (in the pavilion) and it doesnt affect the brilliance of the stone. It can only be seen with a loupe and not with the naked eye." I shall post some photos when it reaches my hands:) can't wait to see it!
