New puppy

Subtle but definite improvement. His poor belly…. The scabs are drying up and it looks like healing is beginning.
I can’t believe how quickly and deeply this little guy has become such an important part of our family.

Oh, I know. Long time dog mom here. I can't imagine life without a pup in the house. Glad to hear there is some improvement. I think you said you were going to try the food with salmon. Do you think there is a connection?

We have switched over to Blue- a salmon based puppy kibble
I don’t know if that’s helping. He does eat it. Once or twice a day we’ve been mixing a spoon of canned Blue chicken based puppy food.
I’m just learning so much. When to take him out to poop. He sniffs around a lot. So learning the exact sniffing pattern…
Anyway he’s changed our families life.
We have three floors in our house… he’s already mastered going up and down.
Cutest thing watching him navigate

We found out Bear's itching and tummy problems are from Giardia. It's something to check out. Our other dogs have had iit before. Both dogs are on meds and things are looking up. Finally. Hope Cole is doing well with food and everything.

is that from drinking what ever when out walking ?

Daisy, we don't know. We have a. kind of wild backyard. It may be from eating or just sniffing poo. Just 1 more day of treatment.

David, the vet prescribed us a dual-biotic (pro and pre-biotic) to settle gut problems. Worked great. Now we are on Purina forti-flora which is in powder form you sprinkle on food. It's #1. vet rated. We will continue on it. You can buy it online or pet food stores, petsmart, etc. It's so beneficial to have your dog on this from an early age. Holds off. many gastro issues.

Sniffing… jeez Louise. I never imagined just how much love and attention this puppy would evoke.
He sniffs all over the place. Natural of course. We have a yard but we’ve started to walk him down the street a bit. Plenty of pooches in my hood…. For sure he can small them.
I’m hoping he’ll develop some immunity….
His scratching has pretty much subsided which is great news.
Each day a new experience. Some days he gobbles the food. Other days not so much interest….
We will definitely get pre-pro biotic !

Great news that the itching has subsided!

Dogs sniff. A lot. Someone once said “it’s their walk not yours. Let them sniff as much as they want!”

It's pretty awesome to see them curious about absolutely everything. Bear still doesn't understand wind. He considers barking at it. He notices new things every day and investigates. So wonderful. He's also a total brat and hides under tables, puts every tiny mote of lint or plastic in his mouth and runs when you want to take him outside. He hates wet grass because he's so short. I hope I remember these things. He finally learned his name from being yelled at to try to.get him to stop doing questionable things.

So much so. I have kids. I adore my kids.
I have teenagers. Believe me, it’s not easy adoring them at this age.
But Cole? Unconditional love.
Plus he smells way better than 15 year old boys hahah
He has brought so much into our lives.
Little pooper.

He's just too cute. How much does he weigh now and how is the itching?

Itching is much improved! His poor little belly is healing.....
He's up to 17 pounds!!

Do you think it's the change in food, or something else, that is helping?

It's so hard to say.....we've switched to salmon based Blue for puppues....but it's also impossible to 100% prevent him from eating......stuff.
May also be the meds finally kicking in......

Wow! He's growing so quickly! So adorable!

LOL! Me, too!

hello darling
is the bird getting enough love ?

Omg our house is like a zoo.
Bdog was always lovable and loved. But you had to go and get him. Wherever he might be. He has free rein of the floor his cage is on. Even if I clip one wing, he navigates the floor plan.
Anyway, since Cole came along, Bdog has decided he will take the initiative and fly to our shoulders. When Sandra calls him, the little sucker comes!
As Cole’s senses grow he gets more and more interested in the bird. In the best of worlds, the bird nips the dog on the nose and an agreement is made. Hasn’t happened yet

Did you know that some anthropologists believe that human evolution would have failed were it not for dogs? Seriously, it's in some of the literature.

Dogs sniff. A lot. Someone once said “it’s their walk not yours. Let them sniff as much as they want!”

Someone once told me that it's how dogs read the daily news!

Their sense of smell is so keen they can tell all kinds of things about exactly who has been there, familiar or stranger, their gender, state of health, and more. It's their super power.

Alexandra Horowitz is aparently one of the top experts on dogs' olfactory sense. I have read a couple of about books on dogs and she's great.

I'm trying our Blue - a salmon-based puppy size kibble.....started mixing it in with the IAMs today.....

I've heard that Blue is a recommended brand....argh so many choices...

And now that I’m cognizant I see them often.
Here’s our boy today. Growing like a weed

Where's his sparkler?

We've always liked to take Bdog out for sun and fresh air in our yard.
Now there’s a new twist.
Cole was investigating and got his tongue nipped :)

Well, Cole will learn!

Hi Fur baby lovers!!
Cole is growing like a weed. He’s brought so much love into the house:)
Question- now that I understand the entire process better, I realize that we bought Cole from a puppy mill.
The Google reviews are all good…..
What do y’all think about leaving an honest ( harsh) review of the place?
I never got Cole’s paperwork. We don’t know who sired him.
I’m torn because I don’t like leaving a negative review- but alerting the next person seems like the right thing to do.
Thoughts???
