Hi everybody!

I am still debating changing settings but here are some new pics with better lighting:

As beautiful as ever - it is truly a stunning ring!

Wow, absolutely droolworthy!! What don't you like about your current setting?

Wow, thank you so much :wavey: ! Well, it's set very low and looks a little delicate for my size 6.5 finger.... :twirl:

I LOVE it

I also love your gorgeous nails may I ask what the colour is?

Nina

It is gorgeous as it is!

That's just perfect, just as it is!!! I couldn't imagine any improvement on that setting at all!! My vote- leave it, love it, enjoy it! It really is a stunning setting - and looks spectacular on your gorgeous hand!

I think the setting is beautiful and looks great with your gorgeous    stone. I don't think it looks too "delicate" on your finger and I really like the height of the setting. It just all seems to really work together. I also really like your band with it.

Stunning ring, I wouldn't change a thing!

Thank you! I
was thinking of a trellis setting with diamond sidestones. The sides meet the middle of the diamond so it's sort of connected. Pretty sweeping look for prongs from profile. see pic of what i'm thinking of: http://jewelplus.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=2137

The color of my nail polish is Trout Pout by Butter London. Get compliments a lot on this color. Very pretty. Glad u like it. Fun to try new things u get excited about.

There is always truth in numbers and many, many people here have told you how much they like your current ring. I truly think you would be making a mistake to put it in a mounting like the one linked.

If you really want to reset, go with someone like Victor Canera or Steven Kirsch. They could make another setting befitting your stone incorporating things that you would want in it. It is a very classy ring and I wouldn't want to see you settle for anything less in terms of quality.

Another vote for leaving the setting alone. I think it looks gorgeous!!

 please don't change the setting! The setting and diamond go together beautifully, a modern setting wont do that stunning stone justice and I wouldn't spoil the integrity of the antique/vintage ring. If it ain't broke don't fix it 8-) drooling...sigh :lickout:

Ok, I guess you guys are right. I do love the ring from most angles.

Plus even in the poll there was an overwhelming majority to keep it. Maybe I'll look into Victor or Steven K. THanks for the recommendation. The trellis setting I figured could have been good only because it is a solitaire, but with some bling on the sides and the sides connected to the top so the diamond would not appear so "separate" like on my current setting.... I liked the prongs.

The funny thing is the other day I was in another jewelry store and tried on 2 split shank rings. The sales lady said in her opinion she would go with the smaller ring (smaller sidestones) so they won't "compete" with the center stone. She thinks that w/ the larger stones, it could compete with it. We had a cz of the same size in the settings to get an idea. :lickout:
THen I was thinking it might be interesting to have an old cut in a new setting....(?) But I shall keep it as is.......

For anyone who didn't see a poll I did with more pics of my ring, check this out: :read:

any ideas for settings? or should i just get a whole new stone? or should i get a new band???

Listen luv, don't change a thing about that ring (coming in late here). It's simply lovely and I for one, would mourn its' loss :blackeye:

OMG! Super beau! Better to say in french for more punch! :naughty:

 Oh my goodness it is perfect as is!! Stunning!!!

Wow, I love it as is

I love your set :appl: I won't change a thing.

I vote to keep it the way it is. Have you considered getting a whole new different ring and starting from scratch? I hate to see you dismantle your ring and regret it later, as some have. If you start from scratch then you can chose what you want and once it's done and you like that one better, after living with it for a while. Then you can decide whether to keep this ring or sell it. Just my two cents but you have a very lovely ring there, you truly do.

I still think in the back of your mind you want to change the setting, listening to everyone say how pretty it is and it's looks perfect I'm sure is confusing because it makes you feel like you should keep it. Which by the way it is very pretty and I like the current setting. BUT clearly something about it is not making you content with it, or you wouldn't keep driving your self crazy figuring out what to do.
Is it possible to start new and keep the ring the way it is? Is it something about the diamond that is bothering you? I thought I've seen you mention a cushion cut.

Beautiful!

Well, currently I am looking at cushion diamonds .......DH thinks I should start fresh and keep this ring. He thinks it's so special I shouldn't sell it either. I figured to possibly sell it but he said it's so rare, I'd be crazy to sell it.
There are no visible inclusions in it w/ a 10x loupe and when it's under a microscope thing jewelers say it's very clean and bright.
I guess I'll have to just get another diamond....ee gad :wink2:

I would not change the setting-it's just perfect as is. Lots of people here love that ring, so you'd have no problem selling it if you want to start over.

I think your ring is stunning! And I love the nail colour too. Looks edible. :lickout:
