I''ve been reading the info on this site for a month now and it has been very helpful. I hope I am posting this question in the correct area. Does anyone have any experience in purchasing a diamond from Netcarats.com?? I am considering purchasing an AGS certified diamond from them (with the AGS number laser etched on the diamond). I am trying to determine if they have a reputation (good, bad, indifferent). Their prices seem to be good and the salesperson I have been dealing with has been very helpful. Buying a diamond on-line is somewhat nerve-racking but I have been doing price comparisons with local diamond wholesalers/retailers for similar GIAand AGS diamonds and there is a huge difference (especially taking the sales tax issue into consideration).

Thanks in advance for your replies!!!

Sorry, I''ve never heard of Netcarats.com, but they don''t give a lot of info about the diamonds on their site. Looks like any other "empty house lister" that is selling diamonds from a diamond database. I would be curious if the diamond you were looking at was in house and if they could provide photos.

Just for comparison''s sake, visit GoodOldGold.com, Whiteflash.com, JamesAllen.com, or NiceIce.com. You will see that they provide actual photos of the diamond, plus some feature photos showing the cut grade. You might feel better buying online if you had a better idea of what you were getting. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the information. They provided me with the AGS report as well as four photos of the diamond. The diamond is "in-house" as the individual I have been dealing with has been providing me with information on it as he is holding it and looking at it both under a loop and under a microscope. It''s difficult to really tell if a stone is "eye clean" from the photos though. He said that there are no black carbon inclusions but that i does have a couple of feathers and a crystal inclusion.

I do not know your particular vendor but I make the effort to provide my clients with AGS reports for their detailed cut quality judgments. Its worth you checking that your AGS report is the newer version with a light performance evaluation. It most likely is, as the older reports are less and less in circulation but it is best to be sure just in case.
