After having the bracelet fall off twice (and luckily not lost) due to the weak bolt clasp and my habit of catching bracelets on everything - I put it away.
I then thought about converting the pendant to a ring, literally by soldering it onto a gold band.
But as I am of the “meaty fingers” club, my wee Alex is smaller than the freckles I have on my hands!
Turning my my friend, eBay, I found a ring with a composite ruby that was the correct dimensions for a swap and a blingy enough setting to provide some much needed finger coverage. I’ve extracted the ruby and Alex is just resting on top.
Of course, taking a photo on an Alexandrite with an iPhone is no mean feat. Out of 105 photos, I almost got one the real daylight colour. Yay me,
Incandescent colour is actually quite easy except for the red glints, can’t catch them.
What I actually love most about this wee Alex is its inclusions. It’s got what I presume are minute mica flakes and it results in a mass of tiny tiny pinpoint sparkles - sort of diamond like. It’s amazing under the microscope, there’s a whole other world living in there!
So here’s the planned transformation.
Btw Alex 7.1 x 5.2.
