Hello everyone!!! I have been lurking here for a few weeks now TRYING to soak up as much info as possible but I am still kind of confused.
I am wanting to upgrade my ring and am looking for a 1.5 carat to put in a classic Tiffany style 6 prong setting. I am quite sure I want a G or F color and VS2 if possible ( I have a pear shaped I SI1 now) Soooo .... my jeweler will let me trade in my current ring and this is the stone she has found for me, Please tell me what you all think!!!

EGL
Excellent Ideal
G
1.5
VS2
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Excellent
Culet: No
Flour: No
7.42 x 7.37 x 4.5
Table: 56
Depth: 60.9%
PV: 43%
Crown: 15
No Graining

Welcome Jewels!

Well this looks as if it could be a nicely cut stone and a good performer, which branch of EGL graded this diamond, such as USA, Israel, Europe etc? Did you want an EGL graded diamond as a pose to GIA/ AGS?

Hi!! Thanks so much!!

I would have to find out which branch I do not know. I really did not have a preference, even though I thought that AGS was the best. I just really want the best CUT and the WHITEST diamond that I can possibly get for my budget which is not over 15K. She said this one was 15 but was discounting to 13.

The diamond specs sound nice, but do be aware the EGS is supposedly more relaxed on its standards then an AGS or GIA stone. I have heard it said the an EGL G color would be like a GIA H color. I am not a jeweler, so please don''t take my word as definitive, however, I have been doing months of searching around here and listening to all the very well educated diamond people on here

Most welcome! The price is high even at 13k with an EGL report, does this include the ring/ setting? It seems online pricing ( jewellery stores are typically a bit more expensive) for similar diamonds range between $8500 and $11k as a rough guide with EGL reports, here is one as an example - not an in house diamond from Whiteflash but it gives an idea of pricing so you can compare.

Hi! Thanks for replying! This is what I was wondering also ???

Lorelei,

No this is just for the Diamond itself. Is there anything you can recommend online? I have been stalking online sites for weeks now and just am not sure what I am looking at

I will certainly try to point you in the right direction! What is your max budget and do you want to stick with G VS or would SI clarity be ok if verified eyeclean?

Ok here are some suggestions to see if any of these appeal! This one is $14526 if you pay by bank wire.

http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/4882/

This one is $11,144 with bank wire, I don't know if you would want to go as low as SI2 but you would need to verify if it is eyeclean to your standards.

http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/A-Cut-Above-H-A-cut-diamond-906729.htm#

$15,252 for this one with BW - http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/4833/

Same price for this one - http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/4866/

This one shows a small amount of leakage on the Idealscope image, however it may be something that the eye may not detect and it is still a well cut stone.

http://www.whiteflash.com/round_ideal_cut/Round-Ideal-Cut-cut-diamond-1181459.htm#

This is a nice one - http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/4976/

And if you wanted to go larger, then there is this one -

Wow Lorelei! Thanks so much!

I think I would like to stay under 15K if possible but I really would like at least a G color, I have an I Color now and it is just way too warm for me and I want something as White as possible. As for the VS2, I would be willing to go lower to SI1 but pretty sure no lower .... do you think I can get what I am looking for in my budget? It seems G VS2 1.5 is soooo hard to find

You are very welcome! Just wanted to mention, an I colour in a well cut round will still look white, fancy shapes such as pears can show more colour, so that might be worth bearing in mind.

I had another look and these are some options -

http://www.whiteflash.com/round_ideal_cut/Round-Ideal-Cut-cut-diamond-1181459.htm I posted this one before, it does show a little leakage on the Idealscope but it may not be anything which interferes with the beauty of the diamond!

This one from Blue Nile is SI1, you would need to clarify with them that it is eyeclean, it is a bit larger than 1.5 but I thought I would include it!

Thanks! You guys have given me some gorgeous stones to look at and quite a bit more to absorb! Much appreciated

I wonder if I am being silly, as it is just in my head that I should get a G color? I was just afraid that H wasn''t going to be a big enough jump up to be WHITE enough but of course I apparantly do not know what I am talking about , huh

I like the one you posted from Good Old Gold, can you get the ideal scopes on the other 2?

Hi Skippy! Thanks for your reply! Um, how do I get that?

Hi Jewels, You can request it from the vendor James Allen IS or Idealscope image.

Jewels I like the GOG one best although the others are certainly good contenders!

seems like GOG is a top favorite around here, which I already knew from lurking so long, LOL!!! I am thinking that would be my online preference also. But I am going to call and check on a few things thanks to all of your help!!

But as long as I''m here, a few more dumb questions if you can stand me
9.gif
.... what is the advantange of Hearts and Arrows? and do you think I will see any yellowish color in an H? Sorry total paranoia here
7.gif

GOG is on par with WF I think. Just that your specified range seems to be lack of suitable candidates from WF.

H&A is better symmetry, you get to see pretty, symmetrical patterns on close inspection of your diamond.

H should still be colorless unless you have More colorless stones beside it. :P

It depends on your preferences if you want a true hearts and arrows, some diamonds can show an arrow pattern yet not be true h&a - more info here - http://www.pricescope.com/hearts_indx.asp

A well cut and reliably graded H won't look yellow, it will look plenty white to most people, see if you can view similar diamonds in person if you are concerned, same size, shape, cut quality and lab grade if possible.

Jewels, the GOG H VS2 will face up very white. Looking yellow will not be an issue at all with that one. It is a very nice diamond and you will have to look long and hard to find better.
