Hi everyone,

Im 29 year old, my partner is 32 and we have been together since 2003, living together since 2005.

By all accounts we should have been engaged a long time ago, but if I am honest we have had the worst luck in the world.

It seems like everytime we talk about getting married something happens to put it back and it doesnt happen.

I lost my job, he lost his job, he got a new job, his pay was cut in half, his mother had a heart attack, We almost lost our house due to lack of money and now he has just been told he has heart failure.

Our house is up for sale right now, we are planning on buying a new place together, and with everything that has happened over the years and all the waiting, he told me last weekend that as soon as the house sells and he finally has a bit of money he is going out and buying me a ring because its something he "should have done years ago"

Just wanted to introduce myself and say hi to everyone.

Welcome! :wavey:

I'm sorry to hear about all the hard times you've been having. I hope your soon to be fiancé is doing ok. At least you two have a good relationship and have each others support, that's more important than anything else. Good luck with selling your house and moving forward together. *~*~*~*~DUST~*~*~*~*

Welcome, Anasazi! So sorry to hear about all of the unfortunate things you've been through. :(( Sending good thoughts your way that everything will get better.

Wow, you guys have been through a lot. It's a testament to the strength of your relationship that you were able to handle everything and come out the other side. If money is really tight, could you guys maybe to a courthouse wedding and backyard bbq, and then renew your vows down the road (say, on your 5th anniversary) with a big wedding and nice ring, once you've had some time to get back on your feet financially?

Welcome! And ditto what everyone else said - sounds like you guys have been through a lot! Congrats on getting through it all and lots *dust* to hope your proposal isn't too far off.

I am sorry for what you have been through.

On the the other hand it sounds to me as if this could be the start for a wonderful new part of your joint lives.
