i don''t know how i found this site but i did and i need help im soo overwelmed with the whole ring shopping and knowing what i want we''ve gone ring shopping 4 times and each time i get more confused.

at first i wanted princess cut then i decided on round in a 4 prong setting i like the square shape but i felt the princess cut didnt sparkle as much as round. then i was thinking asshner but just read a few people saying they didn''t like it.

im looking for 1.25ct F SI1 or Si2

i like this setting but want cathedral http://www.knoxjewelers.biz/index.htm?crn=200&rn=770&action=show_detail

someone HELP!!

The best advice I can offer is to take your time and don''t rush into anything. You might want to try to just look at stones first if you aren''t set yet on shape. Don''t even think setting yet - just which shape starts to really catch your eye. You''ll know after awhile. Then move on to what your style is and what you feel comfortable wearing...not necessarily just what you think is pretty - and I''ll tell you what I mean by that. After I was married a few years I really wanted a white gold band ring since my original WR was in yellow gold and just wasn''t what I wore any longer. I like wider bands and found a positively beautiful ring (to me anyway) that I just loved. It has open work and is very feminine. Kind of reminded me of a wedding cake, lol. The only problem is that it just seems too "fancy" for my daily life. I just don''t feel right wearing it to pick out plants at the garden center or to take my dog for his haircut, if that makes any sense? If I''m dressed up and going somewhere kind of formal it works great. Otherwise, not so much.

Now I am looking for a simple five or seven stone band ring to wear alone for daily/casual life and for my dream ring that we can finally afford. I still have to pull in the reins though when I look at overly "fancy" and "frilly" settings. I may like them but they still wouldn''t fit my life.

Just my two cents....Hope this helps!

What is your budget for the stone?

thanks MONKEY!!

the budget is 5000MAX im thinking more like 4000 im definatly set on the setting small delicate stones on the side (not excatly pave) and catheral set i have two picked out now its the stone causing me stress

You are really going to have to readjust your expectations on size, color, or price if you want a beautiful, well cut stone. I''d recommend going to at least G or H in color, otherwise, you''re not going to get anywhere near 1.25 cts. at $5000. The good news is, a well cut stone is going to look bigger and brighter than a poorly cut stone, in most cases.

Here are some nice stones just to give you some idea:

Thanks, somethingshiny!

As to whether SI1 and SI2 are eye-clean, that depends on the individual stone. Once you identify one (or more) that you are interested in, you can call the vendor and ask if the stone is eye-clean.

In ideal cut stones, you get a bright whiteness face-up in G-H color stones (and even I and J). The only way you usually can detect a minute tint in an H is when compared side-by-side with a D or E. My diamonds are G and H and they are very bright and white.

thanks so really the cut is more important than color??

Cut is very important in it's own right, you can get a lovely diamond with what is called a ' nice make - good make' which means it has a cut and proportions which allow for plenty of performance, but it may not be crafted to exact Superideal standards which we see so often here. To further explain this, a reliably graded D colour diamond ( which is the top colour grade) won't look fabulous in a diamond where the cut isn't good. You need a great cut to bring that D to life in all it's icy white glory, same as far lower down the scale, an O or P graded diamond will look lovely with a great cut, dull and lifeless without. Colour does seem to have a major influence on price though.

I see thanks i was thinking of a color f in and si1 or si2 but would really love 1.25ct will settle for 1.0 so maybe i should consider a lower color with better cut im driving my BF crazy he finally memorized color f si1 hahaha now i gotta tell him something else
