Greetings all... I just signed up the other day after checking out a few sites and this one seemed the most informative. I live in Virginia and being a tech guy by trade, I end to be a member on many other forums which assist me in my work, to my vehicle troubleshooting, to banking, to watches...... I have collected quite a few beautiful gen and rep watches along the way. I''ve got no real time table right now, but I know I need to be looking at engagment rings soon. As much as that whole thing frightens me to no end :) I came to you all for infomation and direction and to start building knowledge so I can make an intellgent purchase. So here is what I know... I know she loves Tacori, so that is where I am starting to look. Se is very small framed and has made comments before that large stones or here look ridiculous.... so I''ll be on the search for a nice stone that is not so huge to make it seem odd. My original intent was to look at a ring with her diamond in the middle but were flanked on each side by two stones... which would be the birth stones of her 2 small children. After looking it it, I think that would look odd since it would be a garnet and opal. Anyway, I am beginning to ramble but any comments, suggestions, questions or directions you might have I would appreciate.

Welcome! Definitely save the children's birthstones for future right hand rings for her! A Tacori ring would be beautiful, and you can go with a solitaire style or a style with small sidestones. If you do a search on this forum, you'll see that there have been many Tacori rings purchased by PS members.

So what you really need to do is to pick a perfect round stone, and we'd need to know your diamond budget to give you some suggestions. I have personally bought stones from both Good Old Gold and WhiteFlash who both specialize in ideal cut, hearts and arrows diamonds which they have in-house. Because they have them in-house, they provide many pictures and other analysis on the diamonds which should please a tech guy like you!

But give us an idea of how much you want to spend and we can offer suggestions. In the meanwhile, take a look at this to get a quick education on the 4 C's:

Great thank you and thanks for the reply. In researching the Tacori brand, I realize that that particular designers settings can be quite pricey. After looking at them, I gotta say that I love them also..... a month ago I had no idea they existed. Generally I dont even know what people are gernerally paying for e-rings.... but I didnt want to pay more than $10k. I didnt particulary want to spend that much, but if needed I would have to supplement with a loan. Lets say 10K was the upper end but finding a beautiful setting and stone on a low end is my goal. I would even consider finding both and purchasing the stone first and pay it off, then come back and purchase the ring and mouting etc.

Welcome! Ditto what ds suggested!

I bought my stone from Good Old Gold. I love all the information they had, and I loved the customer service.

You can DEFINITELY get a beautiful Tacori setting and stunning diamond for < $10k.

Tacori has some petite rings that are very delicate and would look lovely and not overpowering on a small finger. The petite versions aren''t outrageous in price but are a bit higher due to the name. I tried on many Tacori rings... they are really pretty. Like ds said, you could get a solitaire or one with sidestones.

Welcome!

Good Old Gold is an extremely well-reputed online dealer that also happens to carry Tacori, so you could get everything done in one shot. You should be able to get a beautiful ring for $10k. Good luck!

Okay, then I would suggest this:

http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/4002/

Or:

http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/4206/

Both are a lovely size and at the upper end of near colorless and are top quality hearts and arrows cut. My diamond happens to be a Tolkowsky cut like the second one. We might be able to find some threads with some nice Tacori settings, too. GOG can order any of them for you. It probably takes a few weeks since Tacori settings are custom made.
