One step short of a declaration of war, reminds me of the 1770s warnings to the king.

I always wonder what they will do if they did institute property taxes in NH, would they just duct tape over the "live free" and leave it saying "DIE!"

Without fed money the NH schools will be in serious trouble. As it is they rank far below their neighboring states in many categories. Then again, many MA teachers have to live in NH to be able to afford a house. It is a trade-off.

There are property taxes in NH, just not sales or income tax. As a result, NH had some of the highest rates in the country and the schools get a lot of their funding from property tax as well. So for me, the prop tax is worth it. I live in RI now, and we''re the 9th highest taxed state. I would MUCH prefer to pay $5k a year (avg.) in property tax to avoid the rip-off known as sales and income tax in this state (which is in addition to the $3500 we pay in property tax). In RI you even pay property tax to the town on your car! RI has some of the worst infrastructure in the country (roads, etc) and our schools SUCK!

Similar bills introduced in this week in: Washington, Michigan, Montana, and Arizona

http://www.azleg.state.az.us/legtext/44leg/2r/bills/hcr2034p.htm

1. That when or if the President of the United States, the Congress of the United States or any other federal agent or agency declares the Constitution of the United States to be suspended or abolished, if the President or any other federal entity attempts to institute martial law or its equivalent without an official declaration in one or more of the states without the consent of that state or if any federal order attempts to make it unlawful for individual Americans to own firearms or to confiscate firearms, the State of Arizona, when joined by thirty-four of the other fifty states, declares as follows: that the states resume all state powers delegated by the Constitution of the United States and assume total sovereignty; that the states re-ratify and re-establish the present Constitution of the United States as the charter for the formation of a new federal government, to be followed by the election of a new Congress and President and the reorganization of a new judiciary, similarly following the precedent and procedures of the founding fathers; that individual members of the military return to their respective states and report to the Governor until a new President is elected; that each state assume a negotiated, prorated share of the national debt; that all land within the borders of a state belongs to the state until sold or ceded to the central government by the state''s Legislature and Governor; and that once thirty-five states have agreed to form a new government, each of the remaining fifteen be permitted to join the new confederation on application.

I don''t know about you, but I''ve not seen ANY mention of this in the media. I think this is a major change in our country and how our states interact with the federal government.

The media wont discuss it because it is their agenda that is being rebelled against.

CA passed something similar over other issues in 94

APRIL 14, 1994

Senate Joint Resolution No. 44 Relative to the 10th
Amendment.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL''S DIGEST

SJR 44, Rogers. 10th Amendment.
This measure would declare the state''s sovereignty under the
10th Amendment to the United States Constitution and demand that
the federal government cease and desist mandates that are
beyond the scope of constitutionally delegated powers.

WHEREAS, The 10th Amendment to the Constitution of the United
States reads as follows:
"The powers not delegated to the United States by the

to the States respectively, or to the people"; and
WHEREAS, The 10th Amendment defines the total scope of
federal power as being that specifically granted by the United
States Constitution and no more; and
WHEREAS, The scope of power defined by the 10th Amendment
means that the federal government was created by the states
specifically to be an agent of the states; and
WHEREAS, In the year 1994, the states are demonstrably
treated as agents of the federal government; and
WHEREAS, Numerous resolutions have been forwarded to the
federal government by the California Legislature without any
response or result from Congress or the federal government; and
WHEREAS, Many federal mandates are directly in violation of
the 10th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States; and

WHEREAS, The United States Supreme Court has ruled in New

not simply commandeer the legislative and regulatory processes
of the states; and
WHEREAS, A number of proposals from previous administrations
and some now pending from the present administration and from
Congress may further violate the United States Constitution;
now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate and Assembly of the State of
California, jointly, That the State of California hereby claims
sovereignty under the 10th Amendment to the Constitution of the
United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and
granted to the federal government by the United States
Constitution and that this measure shall serve as notice and
demand to the federal government to cease and desist, effective
immediately, mandates that are beyond the scope of its
constitutionally delegated powers; and be it further
Resolved, That the Secretary of the Senate transmit copies of
this resolution to the President and Vice President of the

South Carolina
http://www.scstatehouse.gov/sess118_2009-2010/bills/424.htm

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, claims for the State of South Carolina sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the United States Constitution.

Be it further resolved that all governmental agencies, quasi-governmental agencies, and their agents and employees operating within the geographic boundaries of the State of South Carolina, or all governmental agencies and their agents and employees, whose actions have effect on the inhabitants or lands or waters of the State of South Carolina, shall operate within the confines of the original intent of the Constitution of the United States or be subject to penalty of law as provided for now or in the future, within the Constitution of South Carolina, the South Carolina statutes, or the common law as guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States.

Be it further resolved that this resolution serves as notice and demand to the federal government, as South Carolina''s agent, to cease and desist immediately all mandates that are beyond the scope of the federal government''s constitutionally delegated powers.

Montana:
Firearms manufactured and used in Montana would become exempt from federal regulation under a bill being considered in the Montana House.

The State House voted in favor of House Bill 246 in second reading on Saturday, and the bill could have the effect of releasing Montana gun owners from federal registration requirements.

The measure applies to firearms, firearm accessories and ammunition that are made and sold in the state.

The bill's sponsor says his proposal is more about states' rights than about gun rights.

FYI:

The Free State Project: A New Strategy for Freedom

The Free State Project is an agreement among 20,000 pro-liberty activists to move to New Hampshire, where they will exert the fullest practical effort toward the creation of a society in which the maximum role of government is the protection of life, liberty, and property. The success of the Project would likely entail reductions in taxation and regulation, reforms at all levels of government, to expand individual rights and free markets, and a restoration of constitutional federalism, demonstrating the benefits of liberty to the rest of the nation and the world.

Upon reaching 5,000 commitments, the Free State Project conducted a vote to select the destination state from a field of ten candidates. On October 1, 2003 we announced that our participants had chosen New Hampshire as the future Free State. New Hampshire’s small population factored heavily in the selection process. Our research showed that 20,000 activists can heavily influence states, like New Hampshire, with populations of less than 1.5 million and our early movers report that even a few hundred can make a significant difference. With its existing distaste for big government and a welcoming attitude for the Free State Project’s goals, New Hampshire is an attractive destination. Migrating FSP participants will find a state consistently rated the safest and most livable in the United States.

Luckily we didn't have to move!
